Solent RIB 650

Good morning,

First, sorry for my english, I’m French.
I have a Solent 650. I buy it last week. I have some works to do : deck and stringer are rotten. This is not a problem for me.

But my tube are porous specially the front part and the port side.
I know I have to retube my RIB but I wan’t to try to keep them alive for 2 or 3 years.

I have some ideas… I’m thinking to :
- apply a coat of glue and paint the tube or
- apply Flexithane of Polyramine or
- apply TUFF SRC or
- put an inner tube or
- apply a second skin.
Do you have other ideas ?
In France, We have NEOP 15. It’s like a special paint and pro tells me it will be ok.
I can’t upload picture.
Thank you.

Are they actually porous or just leaking at the seams. I would run some soapy water over them to find the leaks then do some patch repairs.

Yet another soggy Solent deck! A very common issue. Solent didn’t produce RIBs for that long, so yours probably won’t be much older than 15 years or so, which isn’t that old for hypalon unless it’s had a very hard life. As per the above, well worth doing a proper leak test to see exactly where it’s coming from.

It’s a 2001 model.
I do a leak test with soap and I see bubbles.

Might be the more expensive option but do it once and do it right! If it needs tubes then re-tube it

Is the engine coming off? If something like this would be ideal I'd have thought.

Yes ideal but I can't see its possible to do the turning due to the size and weight. I was thinking liquid latex because of the quantity needed. Saw some good pictures which I can't find. It works.

It was the product mentioned in this thread:
Prolonging air retention on older pvc tubes - any products out there?

Ok thank you.
I can’t open the link.
I will try to put latex liquid outside. After, if there is no leak, I will put an Hypalon patch.

It only works from the inside and I doubt paint would be very successful on the outside.

Not sure why the link doesn't open for you. Use the forum search facility, that's the title of the thread which has helpful pictures of a successful repair.
