RIB covers

Anyone know a good supplier for fitted/tailor made RIB covers or something similar? Don't think the tarp I use has much life left in it!

Regards

when you say not cheap, what are we talking? Re-mortgaging the house or selling the wife?

A fully fitted rib cover designed specifically for your RIB can be expensive. I got a quote of £500 or so for a new one for Blue Ice. Got the old one patched up for £100!

Find a friendly sail maker or a nice Marquee maker. Anyone with commercial sawing machines and a bit of skill can make covers and probably for the right price as well.

I have had a marquee manufacturer produce sail covers ect and they have lasted 8 years don't see why a rib cover should be any different.

Was it the people from Maldon? cost me £500 for a full cover (no good for in the water) with a quote for another £500 for seats and console only.

So the boat stayed in the water uncovered which was ok until the bilge pump failed - shoes off bucket in hand!

Hi Phil

Yes that was with Valiant sails in Maldon. Dumped the cover (or the two halves of it left after the gales!) with them just before I left for Canada in December and said "fix it!". Got a call today saying its ready and cost is £100. Rough estimate for new one was £500. Get it back tommorrow and we'll see what sort of job they have done!

Don't know about RIB covers, but all the dinghy covers i've had over the years have come from Goldfinch Sails in Kent (do mail order) 01227 272295 - excellent quality service, might be worth a call to ask.

Anyone know somewhere that stocks the little rubber clips that you attach your cover to the rubbing strake with.

The ones with bungy that fit thro two holes in the cover?

Local kids seem to think it's fun to pinch mine.

Boat Covers from SAfrica

These people are called Aquatex.
I do not have their details as Falcon supplied me with the cover.
The cover is 1st class. Very strong, completely waterproof and also has special strengthening points where my A-frame is and a foam lining to protect the engine. SUPER STAFF!!
I suggest that you contact
Pieter Heyneman in Falcon at email info@falconinflatables.co.za
tell him that I suggested it and he will reply with prices and availiability.
The only thing is that they do not accept credit cards so the transaction I believe wshould be with a bank transfer. However, you may ask about credit card payment.

I visited a Boat Jumble sale today at Bognor Regis and came across a boat cover manufacturer. This is South and West Marine in Evercreech Somerset.
web site www.boatcoversuk.com

A boat cover to fit my Parker 630 rib I was told would cost about
£ 200.00. The A frame would not be covered. There would be slots in the cover to accomodate the A frame.
