Hello,
I have just let the bank manager buy me a RIB, I have to sort the trailer (over weight) before I can use it though.

going to Scotland in a few weeks, near Glen Livett so i will have a look for nessy. I am looking for some wet weather gear If anyone has anything for sale

Like it? Manos is positively in love with his Falcon! Manos keeps his Falcon in Greece - I've never seen one in the UK.

Talking of Manos, he's quiet these days!

In the advert I thought the boat looked a bit big for an unbraked trailer.

What are you going to have to do to sort the trailer out (apart from buying a new one

)? Can it be converted to a braked unit?

Yes my PC was down but now is up and runing. Only for a few days though as I am about to go on hols until the end of Aug (lucky me!!).
Falcons are GREAT Boats and will post a lot of photos before the end of the summer from our hols!!
Hope when I'm back in the UK we can get together and go for a ride.

Mine came from SAfrica on an unbraked trailer. With a DAIHATSU 4track TDL I towed it to Greece from the UK on the same trailer without any problems.
I believe that the Falcon 650SR and the 700RSR can go on an unbraked trailer and towed with no husle what so ever. In my opinion there is no need for a braked trailer where you can have may things going wrong with it on the brakes etc.
In case of a braked trailer however, TALON Trailers in SAfrica make SS disk brakes which need the min of maintenance, they rarely gop wrong and the price for a braked trailer for a 7mtr RIB is quite reasonable (I think £600-£800 but need to check it).

depends what you tow it with. I tow with a medium sized car and trust me I kneed a braked trailer for my 585. a landrover however can tow over 2 tons unbraked depends on the car!

dgpw I am in agreement with you.
Is my mistake assuming that one tows a boat always with a jeep.
If you use a car then yes I think you should have brakes

you are correct though brakes are more hassle than they are worth. Would be interested in how those disk brakes would perform in the marine enviroment.

I really don't know. When I asked Pieter Heyneman at Falcon he said that these brakes are made specifically for the marine environment. Also that they are patented in SAfrica and TALON has them on their trailers.
It will be interesting to have further info though. I'll ask the question to Pieter and wait for the answer.

keep us posted, My trailer is covered in greese as several people on the forum have found out by brushing past it. THey laugh but I like not having much maintenence. Might be a little OTT though se what CJL says!

Will do.
I always use greese and plenty of it. If you get dirty you just wipe it off. No harm done and keeps things moving

This is another photo of the 700RSR.
Never thought is so responssive to engine trim.
Notice the hull completely out of the water. Speed about 55+knots on this one. On that day the boat reached 57knots on the GPS. With 100 ltrs of fuel, 2 anchors 40 mtrs chain, and full safety gear, life raft and aux engine and me at about 97 kgs.

Hi Yes it can be converted, its a good trailer but the boat and trailer combined exceed 750kg.its not a big job putting a newbraked axle and new coupling. (famous last words)
