New Model - Birth Of Shakespeare 720

Two views of the new production mould after removal from plug/pattern
note:
this mould has a two removable transoms, as we will have a gelled top surface to our finished transoms this neccesitated a seperate mould for single engine installations and another for twin engine installations.
Photos show hull mould with transom not fitted.

3 Pictures of mould with single engine transom fitted - after 1st gelcoat has been applied
note:
full height tube support and high transom profile for better seakeeping in a following sea.

More photos soon as laminate progresses

The transom knees are in fact an extension of the main floor bearing logitudinals and these are installed only after the main hull skin laminate, keelson stiffening, and the full transom has been installed.

Example photo only not the actual 720.

Progress Report on Shakespeare 720 SportRIB

Main hull skin laminate has been laminated and spray rails are all foam filled and overlaminated after skin has cured

Dark item is a carbon fibre 1.2 tube that acts as both keel stiffener and full length limber pipe for hull drainage.

Last photo shows marineply transom timbers 2 X 18mm having been "bonded" into hull with structural adhesive prior to interior laminate being applied.

Transom Inner Laminate being completed prior to main longitudinals, knees and transverse frames being fitted.
In forground is some of the +/- 0/90 degree stitched combination glass cloth used throughout the construction of all our ribs - this is much stronger than conventional woven rovings, and due to its much flatter weave it creates a laminate with a much lower resin to glass ratio which is therefore lighter but with greater strength

Removal of tank?

Steve,

Is there any provision for removal of the tank should there be problems?

Fuel tank problems do happen

Yes we know that there can be problems with tanks!!

The short answer is yes the tank could be removed, but, this is something only practical for us to do at the factory, its not likely to be a DIY job!
As in order to make the underfloor area as waterproof as possible (ah, ah) the whole floor is bonded in, as is the tank.

But we have successfully removed, replaced and made good a couple of other manufacturers tanks, but as I say not a job for the owner/occupier.

Floor Down And Bonded

Floor timbers bedded down on Crestomer structural adhesive and whole floor overlaminated.
Pictures also show removal of transom section of mould, revealing finished transom of the actual boat - (boat is still in mould at this point)
