Maybe somebody can enlighten me, but I really don't get the purpose of the design. Surely the idea of a wave piercing hull is that it goes through waves, but surely once the tubes make contact with the wave it will just pop up over it.

Wouldn't like to drive it too fast downhill either
It just looks like you could stuff it very easily in a big swell. I'm probably wrong but thats what it looks like to me

Have to agree about being very 'stuffable' in a big sea, the bow looks like sombody put tubes on a model of the Titanic.

Mind you, I dont think the smaller RIB shown is intended for use in a heavy sea, If you follow the links to the larger versions the bows have a more conventional shape.

We have one at Hayling a lot in the summer and I think it is a comfort thing for the RYA coaches who are constantly tailing sailing dinghies which are not going that fast . The ideais that the RIB does not bang into each wave but cuts through giving a more comfortable ride . Typically these guys are out for long periods at low speeds .
