Cabin RIB

I am considering a Rayglass Protector to serve as ferry to island house and for family play and exploration. Certainly a wonderful boat - what should I consider as direct competition? Are there other manufacturers who make similar Cabin RIBS that may offer something different (features) or a different price point?

I went round this subject in great detail at the end of last year and came up not ordering anything. From all the boats I looked at the Rayglass seemed the best value and quality for its size and price but for me the problem was the fuel tanks. She holds 500 litres of petrol and runs twin engines over 200hp, range is about 200 miles safely. I was looking for the ability to do extended criusing in Scotland where there is little dockside fuel available and eventually decided to keep mine for the coming season. Looked at the Scorpion Cabin, the Parker, the Shearwater and kept coming back to the Rayglasss.

I suspect that the range and fuel availability will not be such an issue for you so the choice is easier. IMHO she is head an shoulders the best overall package..

Also look at Redbay Boats who have a vast range of all weather cabin and canopy ribs from 7.4m through to 11m. They also have a fantastic looking new 9.1m fitted with a short cabin and twin stern drives. Greasy Jet it to Belfast and have a look.

My last Redbay 9.1m was bought from a guy who used it to ferry people to his island at Bantry Bay, he also had an Aquastar but he preffered the rib in rough weather. He sold them both and bought a helicopter to pick up his guests at Kerry!!

we made the plug and mould for the cabin, it is a fantastic sea going rib that has the added attraction of being able to get out the elements and still has all the makings of a real rib unlike a lot of others...
