Go and see him and test one. I wouldn't spend the money on a new Rib without a test drive. I've seen his own one and it looks pretty good, but don't take my word for it.

Well he seems to be a dab hand with fibreglass no matter what!!!

I still think the whole "splashing" thing is a bit hard to comment on - after all someone must have made the first RIB so in theory ALL others are copies anyway.

Also all RIBs seem to have console and Jockey seats etc - again someone must have been first!!!

I think the parentage of many of the RIBs out there is somewhat obscure anyway so I wouldn't let the splashing bit on it's own put you off.

Iam going to stick my head up above ramparts and say yes
I have seen the products at most of the stages and my humble opinion
better than a lot on offer out there and not a bad price

Sleep better knowing that he contributed nothing to the design work, didn't have the designers input on his construction methods and is making money from someone else's graft.

The end product may be good, but in my eyes its not his to make or sell.

Harry.

I think maybe we can leave out the slagging off now and let the customer make his own mind up. This kind of badmouthing is most unprofessional-specially from someone advertising in their signature that hasn't paid for a trade membership...

I can see that this is heated subject, but putting aside what ever, is it a good Rib?

No, I don't think you have the right to start badmouthing another business in public in front of a potential customer.

Quite frankly if I was a customer of yours you would have lost my business because of that little outburst.

Actually Gav, my interpretation of the ribnet rules is that you can put your website address in your signature - so long as you are not actively touting for business without being a trade member, see: http://www.rib.net/forum/showthread.php?t=4921

However on the splashing issue - it has been discussed to death here in the past. I don't think Nos was necessarily condoning it, but the original questioner clearly recognised that this was an issue and simply wanted to know if the boats were actually any good - regardless of the origins of the design.

If someones intellectual property rights have been infringed then there are correct and appropriate routes for redress (ranting on the web is not one of them!). If the intellectual property is not protected (or properly protected) then it is actually quite legitiamite (legally) for someone to clone them.

Polwart could have put it better. Is it a good boat or not? Personal differences aside please.
