Some people swear by them. I have used them but couldn't tell the difference.

Try your RIB with and without them. They suit some setups but not others. Most RIBs don't need them, but if yours has particular handling vices they may be advantageous. The main purpose of them is to lift the stern.

I had a set on my last inflatable. They helped it to plane more quickly and stay on plane at lower speeds.

I have often wondered what they would do for my current setup (Hurricane 590/150)

thanks all, these plates lifting the stern help me understand why my rib likes to be trimmed up a lot as the bow tends to feel like it is being pushed down a lot at speed.
i will post my results when i have tried the rib with them removed

Oh not really. She just never really accepted me for who I am... a boat-loving, diving addicted, twice-a-week skiing, womanizing workaholic.

Besides, like boats, it is enjoyable trading in the old one for a newer sporty model now and again... (***ducks as women take aim***)

good call. I used to do that quite a bit until I got to about 35 and then I stayed with the wife I had at the time, On reflection I sometimes regret the change in policy
