done the reverse trip

This is a simple trip about 80miles from plymouth to St peter port. I did it a couple of years back from jersey via guernsey for breakfast on way to Plymouth and stopped at Salcolmbe for a beer with a mate then returned direct to Guernsey from Plymouth for a late evening meal and to transfer some fuel before returning to Jersey in the early hours.

At about 25knots it obviously just over 3 hours so plan to have crew who can drive a straightish course and wooly hats or helmets regardless of time of year for wind noise. Music and easy to eat supplies etc etc helps as it just a whole load of ocean.

we were lucky to see a couple of basking sharks which 1 of our crew decided to have a quick swim with mid channel.

this route is also well west of the shipping lanes so although you will see some large vessels they have generally spread a little after passing the casquets TSS.

If you venture this far be sure to spend some time exploring the other Islands.

If you want any detailed advise let us know

cheers
karlt

Guernsey 2007

Hi, Were having a big trip to the Channel Islands then down to the Bay of Biscay on the 7th July 2007. Maybe we could arrange to all go at the same time and make a huge event of it etc.

Cheers

Julian

Hi Dave,

Hope you didnt think i was hi jacking your thread. I will keep you posted with Updates etc.

This could potentialy be a massive event next year. I recon we could have over 20 Ribs taking part which would be fantastic.

Cheers

Julian, you know how these things work ;20 boats(people) register their interest, half actually make the start line and then half of those make it to the destination - so 5 ribs is not too bad

Charles you are so right in that, I was the cruise cordinator this year for BIBOA and that is what happened with most of the events.

Still 5 will do.

All the best

A good idea Biggles.
Plenty of notice of suggested departure dates would be extremely welcome!

Keep things Moving

Hi Guy's

Just thought perhaps a get together after Xmas would prove useful to lay out a few ideas and make some firm plans.

From previous experience you need to set the dates maybe spread over a couple of w/ends to allow for weather. then every one can work to that.

There are plenty of meeting places(Pubs) to chew the fat.

I am also planning to do this trip but from Falmouth via Salcome. See above link.

I am aslo toying with the idea of making the base "Sark" and camping for the week.

There are loads of sheltered bays for anchorage and the island is only 1 mile accross so wherever the campsite is its not going to be far from the boats.
