completed searider !!

all finished and headed down to Teignmouth, (polly steps), superb ride, got caught on the edge of a force 7 with Hail and rain, came through it faultlessly,(bloody hurts tho) awesome boat!! WOT 40 MPH, as some of the photos show, i blanked the holes off using a rubber drill disk and stainless bolt, and on the inside a stainles bar, 4.5 inches long, with a captive nut welded on to it,
for the front a black rubber cork type thine, i got from force four chandlery with a hole drilled through it, and again a stainless bolt, with a captive nut, so can be tightened, also used that black marine sealer as well,

Congratulations - looking really good.

About the same speed as I can get max with a light load, so about right I reckon.

Days like today (we went down the Thames again) are fab.

(flippin glad we bought drysuits though )

Enjoy

Neil

Matt,

Might be a bit personal but might be a good idea to list where you bought/got things from and how much it cost you to put the package together. It's something I was considering earlier this year prior to buying the boat I now have and it would probably help a lot of people in the future to get some good ideas on how to get a Searider up and running and what it costs to do so.

If you think I'm asking too much just ignore me.

Regards Nick.

searider refurb

hi there, no prob, im also trying to down load more intricate pice, but it ain't appening!!
i bought the sea rider in typically rough shape from southampton for £1500 the engine had to match the weight of the original clamshell Mariner, roughly 115 kgs Max (for me anyway) paid £1500 for the engine locally, been used on a fresh water lake all its life with 120 hrs on it since 95, i basically wanted to get it back to original as i guess it workied well, the hull was in very good order, but it had been kept in the water for a year or so without anti fowl, so i tipped it upside down and got scrubbing, filling in any scratches with Gel coat filler, inside i re flow coated it slightly darker this time,
the anti slip floor, i used Blakes Paint, with Budgie sand, let it dry the re painted it to seal the sand in, costs with all paints and sand etc £159
when that was done, took it down to Henshaws tubes where they gave the toobs a birthday, keeping in with the colour, i got then to replace all the handles and any repairwork reqd, also replacing the bow rubbing strake, also stenciling some data info,
the toobs where then polished and sealed, cost £500
i rewired it by binning all the original wiring and adding a blue sea fuse box with isolator switch, and moving the battery as far forward as poss,
fount two new fuel tanks which seem to sit really well,
had the Aframe Lower Brackets shot blasted and painted, £50.00
wanted to block the Second hull holes,
used one of those rubber drill discs, with a stainless steel bar with a captive nut welded on to it, and sealed with Silkaflex, same with the front, i checked after i returned home and it was dry inside,
i the total cost with new Trailer from Dixon Bate and Icom 421 radio was £5130 total!! good fun and enjoed doing it, took me 3 months roughly,

It looks good and it was done for a good price. £5000 for a seaworthy hard RIB that can carry two comfortably is excellent and you'll probably get all that money back in a years time.

Totally agree with the others - looks a really nice job.

With regards to resizing pictures - do a web search for GIMP. Its a freely downloadable graphics package that can do a whole bunch of other stuff as well as re-size images

Very nice Matt

mine came in at similar money, but to be hounest i started not to think about that side of it! i now have a boat that i trust and intend to keep. It seems that there has been a searider revival on ribnet..
what a great hull!
i was interested to know if your boat felt any differently with out the use of the flooded hull, i guessed when in routh seas and not on the plane the flooded hull gave the boat more stability and weight. But you seemed to say on your first outing it was admirable.
I would rather blank of my 3 holes and have it sit higher in the water!

It would be good to throw everyone togeather and compare notes however i doubt we (you) could much better our seariders.

nice one

Mine could definitely be bettered, but I have no spare time, so have to make do.
So long as she runs well, and gives no problems, I'm happy. Must get some spare water seperators as that has been the main cause of any grief I've had.

I'm tempted to change the SR to be honest, but can't decide, as it;s given a lot of fun in the last year, and changing could just bring trouble!

Your boat looks fantastic Matt.

That 35a socket-did it get any water/moisture in while you were out and where did you get it?

the socket came from Force 4 in Bristol,it has a well fitting rubber cap, and also i coated it in Quicksilver corrosion Guard, in side and setting it in the consol, with silkaflex, woked superbly last weekend, its located just behind the throttle handle , difficult to see!
