Optimax Air & Fuel Injectors

I have removed both air and fuel injectors from my 150 Opti due to No2 air injector fault being discovered and am planning to send them to these people( http://www.brucatosvs.com/fuel_injector.html ) for cleaning and recalibration .
Has anyone had any experience of them ?

It is my understanding that they are Bosch items, but I may be wrong. I have been advised that these injectors do not thrive being exposed to the atmosphere. I'd wrap em in cling film perhaps?

I have never heard of the company by the way so can't help there.

Also have a good look at the cable firing the injector is it corroded. No 5 tends to get corroded quite badly

Brucato pretty much have the best name - but they're not magicians.

Have just looked at the site - looks like just the job for tired injectors.

Let us know how you get on as at the current exchange rate being able to get all injectors and air valves serviced for £200 ish looks like good value to me.

Sent them off this morning so will let you know progress . Anyone refitted injectors ? Anything I should know before I do it lube etc

You may need to get a special tool to put direct injectors back in cos of ceramic seal would have expanded whilst injector out.

Just got this back from Brucato in US and I don't understand any of it !Anyone know what she is talking about , to me it sounds like the engine will be much better !

' have been working on your injectors today and wanted to let you know where I am at this point and tell you what I have found so far.

I have preflowed, cleaned and calibrated the Optimax Fuel Injectors. The set was in very bad condition at preflow. All six or the injectors were flooding badly at WOT and at Idle. Approximately 10% too much fuel being fired at all times. After cleaning and flow testing all 6 of the injectors have stabilized and 4 of them are excellent and balance perfectly together. Injectors #5 & #6 are flowing more fuel than the other 4 – though nowhere near like before servicing. The percent of imbalance between the high flowing and low flowing injectors is Very Good at Static Flow and WOT and Okay at idle. At idle the balance is 5.87 percent – this is due to the extra fuel that #6 is flowing. The 5.87% is out of tolerance for most types of injectors but we do not believe that this should cause you problems……so I believe the fuel injectors are fine to come back to you.

I have preflowed the Direct/Air injectors these guys are in rough condition. All six fired, but all six are also LEAN. I have just cleaned the first set of three and the second set of three are on the cleaner now. I will flow test them tomorrow and see how they come out. Just as an indication – at the lowest point at WOT they were about 17% lean and at idle about 20% lean.

So I’m here to say that you motor was likely not running too well. '

I await the report on the air injectors tonight so fingers crossed .

Having seen the original picture of them, I've very impressed.
Sounds like a new set of air injectors would be the way to go.

I have had the report back from BRUCATO and they have serviced the fuel injexctors and fitted new o rings they were 20% out at WOT and idle .
The Iar injectors are as we thought u/s and are now in the bin . New ones being fitted so I look forward to a refreshed engine !
I highly recommend Brucato who have been so helpfull and informative . They do upgraded ECU for some motors and can service all injectors . The cost of send all 12 to the US was about £50.00 so not too bad .

At last I have the boat back in the water after the injector saga , we also found a cross threaded plug on No. 3 which required a helicoil insert . A brief run out today was great ,it felt like a new engine and we got 41.2 knots at WOT .This is the best ever since owning the boat. #

You are correct we managed to get 41.2 kn best ever so Folly should have been our destination .Very indifferent tuna roll at th club instead !Hordes of very pushy parents attending the RYA youth nationals !
