Don't put sand on the beach

This country gets worse by the day!!!

"A Blackpool pensioner has been threatened with legal action if he puts sand which blew into his garden back on the beach.
Council officials threatened to prosecute Arthur Bulmer, 79, who lives opposite the beach in St Anne's, Lancs, for fly-tipping.
And if found guilty he could be fined £50,000 or even go to jail, reports the Mirror.
Storms left gardens, roads and footpaths in St Anne's covered in tons of sand up to 20ft deep"

Fylde borough council said: "The council has no responsibility to clear sand from private land, the owner must do this. However, dumping anything from your garden on to the beach constitutes fly-tipping."

With concerns over erosion these days, surely they would be glad for the sand to be returned! Jobsworth yet again.
Maybe he should put it in his wheelie bin and return it to the council that way. They should concentrate on the rubbish all over our streets and parks instead of someone returning something to where it came from.
What a bloody country this has become!!! Pathetic.

I still prefer the media report! It does makes sense what the council say but not as sensational. Always two sides to a story and in this case, two sides to a beach.

Listen to a jobsworth from a council? No thanks! No doubt they have carried out an expensive "risk assesment" and decided that all the terrible toxic chemicals in your garden would pollute the whole beach.....

So, sand is waste?

The city council's relatives are probably first in line to truck in sand to replenish the beach.

Not sure what the council is concerned about, i.e.

" flower beds and footpaths there could be a whole cocktail of pollutants, insecticides, plant foods, weed killers"

as they probably dump more dangerous stuff in the sea hoping that the tide will take it out.

Many years ago I was poisoned by "waste" in Poole Bay when they got the tides wrong and it all came back in where I was diving.

Then again all of us charging round in our boats doesn't help either.
