Quick update..
They haven't fallen off yet, even with copious amounts of water on them.
The screens are much easier to read now, not quite as good as a new screen but much better than before - even in direct sun light. The damage to the anti-glare coating is almost invisible.
I'm still very pleased - I was only expecting the protectors to stop the screens getting worse, not improve the situation.

Based on DJLs recommendation I also bought two from ZAGG in the States ... and they arrived from a UK distributor
I am howver very pleased - you can now wash off the screen safely without risk of scratches or marking. It doesn't significantly affect the screen viewing - just a slight "honeycomb" effect from some angles.
Would buy again if I bought new equipment

I just bought screen protectors for both my plotters before I start using the boat based on the comments here.
Although I bought them from Zagg in the US off their site the delivery is to be from within the UK within 4 days for free.
For two protectors delivered it was about £11 in total.
For those who have Lowrance the units are pretty common in size as the cases are common on lots of their units, both of mine are listed to fit completely different plotters but by a little searching I know they fit my two exactly as the screens are the same size/shape.
They are cheap enough that you could probably buy a larger one and cut for smaller screens or other makes.
Hopefully by applying them at the start I will avoid scratches altogether and they will work as well as people say.

Most Lowrance plotters have the same couple of screen sizes throughout the range. My GMAP 5300 or my LCX27 aren't listed but if you check the screen sizes against the lowrance models listed you should find one that will fit exactly.
Mine were bought from the US but sent from the UK and arrived within a couple of days at minimal postage. Unfortunately I cannot remember the company name offhand.

Chris, you could always try contacting them direct with screen size made available for them to quote for. Mine cost $11.50 after a discount I got from Jeff and placing the order with their American based website. Also the delivery was free, so I guess it's being posted within the UK.
If you want a 20% discount code, they have sent me two by Email. First come first served basis.

Placed an order on the 21st of December and after not receiving anything by mid January I sent an email asking when I could expect delivery.
Zagg got back to me and said they would send out another as the first should have arrived.
Still nothing by 20th Feb so sent another email to which Zagg suggested I pay to have a tracked shipment, or they would send refund.
I have asked them to refund my money.
Does anyone know of the UK distributor as I may contact them directly.
