E-Bay retube

Hi, I bid and won a retube on E-Bay, last time this was offered I was the only bidder and then it was withdrawn 2 hours from the end. This time I was the only bidder and it ran to the end. Any idea who the guy is ?, his E-Bay login is Rib3631, based in Dartmouth. Strangely enough he's not replying to emails or answering his phone.
His advert.... I have in stock a quantity of dark blue hypalon 1200 GSM orca fabric which is used by the leading rib manufacturers in this country.

This auction is for a professionally manufactured hypalon tube in dark blue to include the rubbing strake, 4 handles, valves and fitted to the hull at my workshop.

The amount of fabric i have is suitable for a boat for up to 6 metres but if you have a boat which is bigger or smaller then please contact me to discuss your requirements on 07817214651.

Any help would be welcome.
Cheers Rich

I was keeping an eye on that because £1k is cheap to retoob a 6m RIB. I suspect the seller is also thinking along those lines.
Good luck with it. Let us know how you get on

Edit: Paul Tilley is based in Dartmouth, but I don't think he was the seller as I'm sure he was selling a 6m Searider on ebay at the same time under a different seller account name

there is a function in ebay which will let you request the users 'real' identity (it is instant) - it reveals your 'registered' identity to them at the same time - so its "fair".

try here:

http://search.ebay.co.uk/ws/search/A...=9#ContactInfo

I think you actually need to have won (rather than just be bidding on) the item to get the details.

When you click it ebay sends you a message along the lines of:

User someone123, is registerred as Joe Smith, 123 Some Street, Anytone. 0123 456 789 etc.

But it also sends an email to someone123 telling them your equivalent deails.

Ed Carter's Rib3631

I did the contact info, thanks for that. I didn't hand any money over as I knew there was little chance for getting a retube for a grand. Now I'm thinking of just going ahead with PayPal, then wait a week and then take court action and get my money back through PayPal.
It would have been nice if he had replied to my messages etc.
What bugs me is that his E-Bay account is 100% +'ve feedback although when you look through the feedback, there is a negative one.......

Ebay feedback scores are calculated on the last 12 months only.

Rib3631's negative feedback was left in March 07 (more than 12 months ago).

Court wouldn't look favourably on you completing the transaction knowing its probably unlikely to be successful - I would suggest that is neither a safe nor a sensible option (unless you have a grand and/or a lot of time to spare).

In fairness to Ed - whilst there are some people on here who obviously have had a gripe with him there were others who were happy with what they got. Hope you can track him down and sort something out.

Its a legally binding contract that he's entered into. If he didn't want to sell for that price why not put a reserve on?!

is there a publicised case anywhere of someone being FORCED to sell / deliver a service following an eBay sale. as i see it, eBay dont care, they get their fee anyways.
