Hi Stype,

It does in fact reach 36 knots+ with only 90hp, full fuel tank and 2 persons on board. Those who says the step does not have any effect on such a small boat simply do not know what they are talking about.

The step does not give a lot of extra top speed, but it helps a lot on overall handling.

1. It makes the hull less sensitive to engine trim and weight distribution - making it easier to drive the boat for the not so experienced driver. Just put the engine vertical and hit the trottle.
2. When you hit the rough if slices the waves like a wave piercer and keeps the trim on the hull more or less neutral - no pitching (bow up and down, up and down).
3. It makes the hull drier. On most ribs you get wet when the going gets rough. Not on the RIB636 (specially when fitted with the big console - see picture), it sprays the water down and to the sides, not into the boat.
4. If gives the boat a bigger weight carrying capacity. You can load the RIB636 with 7 grown ups and still it gets on plane quickly. Even with only 90hp.

I am not trying to sell you a boat - I am simply soooo enthusiastic about the RIB636.

It is currently produced by Roughneck in Holland, but it has still the Hydrosport hull. At Hydrosport we are now developing new and bigger models.

Rgds,
Eddy

You could send a PM to brucehawsker who sold a couple a few years ago under the name Prime RIBs.

The sales concept didn't do as well as Bruce hoped, but I didn't hear any bad reports about the hulls. A search here for Hydrosport will bring up a few other posts too, generally reasonably positive.
