Give TFR a try

For those doubters out there just try it!!!

Seriously I have just cleaned my boat - the tubes were almost white(supposed to be blue). the seats were green(should be white).

Bought 5L of conc traffic film remover from Machine Mart for about £12-£14. Dilute it about 50% with water. Used a medium scrubbing brush from Tesco. Boat looks like new again.

It reTlly is very easy to use and my tubes looked about as bad as you can get. the trick is to use plenty of the mixture - no dry brushing. Wear gloves cos it stings quite a bit - caustic based.

Also cleaned the tekdek a treat and the rubbing strake/grab handles.

Will chuck 303 on for now to protect it but klear when i get it out of the water.

3rd time I have used TFR now - there is nothing better or cheaper that I have found.

went down to machine mart this morning bought 5 ltrs for £5.15p and decided to clean up the old y class sib ,this stuff was already to use but says you can dilute by 15%,what a difference it made ,used both a soft scrubbing brush and an old sponge ,straight away a difference was noticed ,cleared old slipway grease ,general grime only thing it dident shift too much was some rust marks ,i suppose could have spent a bit more time on it but its good enough for me .only thing is if left on and you dont wash it off fast enough you can get a bit of streaking but if you go over it again it goes , pics before and after ,regards mart

You should have bought the concentrated stuff - much stronger!!!

Nice job but the stronger stuff involves less scrubbing!!!

Anybody got any experience of the long term effects of using a caustic based solution on hypalon tubes?
After may be two/three years use?
Tube material and glued joints?
Commercial/trade members of RIBnet comments would be useful.

Do NOT use it long term. The idea is to get your boat spotless and then stop it getting that bad again using either something like 303 protector or Johnson Klear floor sealer.

And when you are using TFR use a scrubbing brush and wash it off straight away or you get streaks!!!

I use a citrus based cleaner that is kind to the environment and gives very good results on the Ribs and vinyl as well as cooker wheel trims and shower screens .

its called viro sol and is available in 5 litre cans

You can dilute it or use neat great also for bilges and degreasing available from
www.glovesnstuff.com been using it for about 2 years now and very happy with the results .

I use TFR a lot but as Codders says the idea is you get it spotless then try and keep it clean.

-Rinse tubes with pressure washer to remove any loose dirt and to wet them
-Put TFR (50:50 with water) in a squirty bottle - spray onto tubes covering about 2ft of tube each time. Immediately scrub with soft scouring pad (the green soft ones). As soon as you've cleaned the area wash it off with plenty of water - I normally use a pressure washer. Try and do it on a cool day out of the sun (I prefer when its raining) and keep the tubes wet when your doing it.
-Protect tubes with some magical overpriced marine product (spray on turtle wax also works very well!)

Applied by hand it might be ok, we stuck a load through a heated pressure washer once, good stuff alright! once the hi-fog had disappeared we noticed that it had cleaned the transom off to bare wood! impressive! Suffice to say we were a touch more delicate next time.

This probably how "Ribshine" established itself as more sensible product might look virosol out.

A steam cleaner would do that by itself!!!
