Evinrude XD30 oil - E-TEC 75

Im running a 2004 Evinrude E-TEC 75, which is new to me and currently has XD30 oil. Looking through the manual and on posts here XD100 seems to be the better option?

I have also read about settings need to be changed to accept the oil...?

Someone kindly tell me the difference between the two as unfortuanltey I have little history of the engine

The e-tec should run on XD 50 or XD 100, the XD100 is supposed to be high quality synthetic oil. Its expensive but i got a good deal from John Price at www.ribstuff.com, it was about £14 cheaper.

Personaly I would use XD100 even if the engine is set to XD50 as it is a very superior oil. There are hiden benefits such as longer and cleaner plug life which in turns lends to better fuel consumption. Keeping plugs in good order can easily give 10% better fuel rates !

True - but you won't see any reduction in useage making it expensive. The engine tweek will cut your oil consumption by about 50%, saving your pocket and increasing your range per fill.
I'm using XD100 on 90s and the plugs were in top nick last service, didn't need a change
