Ribcraft Surfing!
Not very often I come across a Ribcraft in this neck of the woods
So when I spotted this one off the Point ,I had to check it out. Seems they were using it for a tow in vehicle to catch some waves ![]() Not that many great waves to catch and I messed up the one good setup and blurred the shot ! Drat, would have been a classic. ![]() Will have to get these guys again; as looked a lot of fun cheers Dal

Even with the foreshortening of the telephoto the rib driver looks to have taken the vessel a lot farther in than he should. Heck, If I was in my Futura where he is I would have the engine tilted up into shallow water mode! I don't know if you have any interest in surfing your rib limeydal, but I have caught some major kelp running across the shelf at the point. It's definitely a pain when you slow way down, would like to stop and reverse to clear kelp and a wave is breaking toward you. I hate jetski's, but there is a good reason tow in surfers don't use boats (though they started with zodiacs in Hawaii).
All the power boats and sail boats up on shore are pretty much broken up and there isn't much left. I sure hope pieces of a rib on the rocks don't end up being fodder for conversation when I'm out surfing. |

tend to agree with you! I was staying way back as the kelp has a knack for sucking onto your water intakes. Those flat fonds seal pretty well and before you know, the engine overheat warning is on. As you said, not the place you want to be ,to clear your prop and get the heck out of dodge. Surprised to see no more surfers out there, as I am sure he wouldn't be very popular. Although the guy seemed to know what he was doing and his kids extremely confident in the water. So bet he wouldn't have tried it with surfers out there. A couple of jet skiers did join us and I shot a few frames of them, but must admit the ol' Ribcraft was the draw for me cheers Dal
