Avon Supersport on ebay

Would appreciate peoples opinions regarding this boat 'AVON SUPERSPORT 4.0 WITH 30HP OUTBOARD AND TRAILER' Item number: 230376499234.
Currently for sale on ebay.

The boat & engine look to be in very good condition & it ticks all of the right boxes for me (currently looking for a sib for harbour/inshore use room for 2+2, pottering, fishing & toys) I have contacted the seller & he has said that it is aprox 15 years old with light use.
Is this too old?
what is it made off? PVC?
Is the buy it now price too high? If so what is the opinion on correct price.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks - Paul.

I have that one in watch as I'm thinking of upgrading from my 3.2m Zodiac/10hp motor. It would be too far for me and not ready to buy yet but I'm getting a feel for prices.

To be honest it looks tidy, honest, ready to use and I'd happily pay that much for it.

Some might say a Suzuki motor of this age isn't the most desireable but I've had good service from similar age Suzukis.

Only thing is it would want to be 100% sure this model is Hypalon, I would expect it to be but would want to be sure from someone who knows for certain. Too many stories of PVC seam failure on sibs of this age for me to buy an older PVC one.

Also in my watch are item 330354819790 which is a black 4m Avon Typhoon with a 25hp Yamaha, no repairs and it comes with steering and remotes.... I really like this. £1750

Finally watching item 160362113130 which is a 4m Humber RIB with a 40hp Yamaha for £1900. Not really attracted to this but makes an interesting price comparison.

Thanks David,

It does look tidy & I'm very interested despite the distance.
Hopefully someone with some knowledge of the boat & outboard particulars will be along soon...

Avon SIBs are very well made. At 15 years old, the boat should have many years more useful life ahead - from the photos the condition looks good. As a comparison my previous Avon SIB was well over 30 years old and still going strong when I sold her. It will be hypalon.

I'll leave others to comment on the engine, but assuming the trailer is in good nick (might be worth asking the seller for some photos) £1650 sounds a little high but not too unreasonable.

It will shift pretty quickly with the 30HP outboard - take the 'faster than an RNLI IRB' comment with a pinch of salt though!

The Avon might be a bit quicker because the Arancias run prop guards.
I like the comment "fully inflatable RIB".

That Soozook would be 1986-88 and looks like a longshaft(20") on a standard shaft(15") transom.

Thanks for the brochure Matt.... but please don't encourage me! Haven't got the family on board with any possible change yet... they need easing in gently. Hopefully it will sell before I'm tempted more!!

I was thinking about talking them round over the autumn and then buying at winter prices.

Thanks All

Thanks all for your replies - the power of RIBnet!

As said before the boat does look good & the Avons of that vintage were excellent quality. Interesting to see the original brochure!

Also the outboard looks in superb condition & it is obviously well cared for by its current owner but if 20 years old as suggested then no one can vouch for its care by previous owners - that said my Dad had a Jonhson 18hp circa 1965 that ran without fault until sold in 1990!

I agree with the comments about the trailer however in a email from the seller he agreed to meet me at Bridport so he must have some confidence in it to tow it that far from Newquay.

In summary it is a cracking package that would meet our needs very well but I wouldn't be prepared to go to the buy it now price. I will have a punt in the auction but - some you win some you loose.

Thanks - Paul.
