2 RIBs stolen- both mine. Dorchester, Dorset

Hi- both my RIBs stolen over the weekend, from a farm near Dorchester, Dorset.

STOLEN DURING HOURS OF DARKNESS- FRI- SAT 19-20
5.0m Tornado Viking, orange hull, grey tubes. Double jockey consol. 50hp Yamaha 4-stroke (2001) (FT50- #450269). On a RM Trailer-, braked and tilting, built for overbars for a dinghy (but they weren't fitted).

STOLEN DURING HOURS OF DARKNESS- SAT-SUN 20-21
4.7m Humber, orange hull, blue tubes. Single jockey consol. 50hp Mariner 4-stroke (2002 50 ELPTEFI) (0T522632). On unbraked trailer, with dinghy carrying overbars.

Any help on 07920 142615 would be appreciated if you hear of anything.

Cheers, Nathan

So sorry to hear this news. An engine going missing is one thing, the whole lot, that hurts.

Will keep my eye on Poole and surrounding areas when out and about

Thanks guys, Police etc have serial numbers. As do Mariner + Yamaha, and they've said they wont make any replacement keys for the engines.

I've also emailed lots of sailing people, and the RYA- these RIBs were primarily used for safety boat/ coaching roles.

Cheers

boomer- here are pictures. I don't have any pictures of the blue Humber afloat (only owned for 4 months!). When the Tornado was stolen, the overbars were not on the trailer.

The Police have been out to where the thefts took place and had a good look around.

Hope this helps.

Are the tubes on the blue Humber that vivid a colour in real life? It's a pretty distinctive boat if they are.

They are a little bit less shiney when not wet, and possibly a bit lighter as well, but yes, pretty distinctive. Both trailers are not excatly standard either, both designed for carrying sailing dinghies.

Very frustrating!

im sorry to hear about your loss, are the main roads covered by cameras around dorch?

As you know pretty well when they went can the feds not see the tow vehicle from the closest cameras from where the boats went from?

have they checked them for you?? as these may possible lead to a shit load of other stolen ribs

Poole Marine police are normally pretty on the ball. Although I suspect these boats are hidden away somewhere, I had a boat nicked 6 years ago and share your pain. Hope the insurance works outs ok, good luck

That's surprising. You would've thought that the plod rocking-up two weeks after the event would've had the blighters banged to rights.

They've phoned up to say they have done everything they can, let's wait and see what happens.

I'm guessing that it's very unlikely I'll ever see them again!

I was sure I'd found the humber the other day when I was down in Plymouth - unfortuantely not - it had a mercury on it instead.

Will keep my eyes peeled on my travels.

i guess it's very easy to swap the engines over to keep people off the scent?

maybe worth a look at the hull serial number on the boat if in doubt? i'm sure it is all above board but can't hurt to check can it?

hope your insurance is sorting you out assuming you had some.

i've got a new avon 560 coming and i was looking at trackers only yesterday-i'll 100% be getting one with all the unfortunate rib thefts i read about :-(

cheers

You may want to re-think that tracker, after you've been out on the 560
