Engine hours on Suzuki DF90?

Guys am I right in thinking that the rev counter briefly shows the total engine hours when you switch the ignition on and that it shows in incriments of 10, ie 900 rpm means 90 hours? I'm sure I read it somewhere but cant locate it now, dont have a manual for the motor, please feel free to laugh at me and correct me if I'm (more than likely) wrong! lol :o)

Hi,

just got my DF250 book out, thought I remembered reading something but thought it wasnt quite that straight forward, I was right. Best I can table from the book as below:-

Total operating hours Needle indication Rev limit lamp flashing
0-49h 500rpm NO
50- 600rpm NO
60- 600rpm NO

540- 5400rpm NO
550- 500rpm 1 time
560- 600rpm 1 time

1040- 5400rpm 1 time
1050- 500rpm 2 times

1540- 5400rpm 2 times
1550- 500rpm 3 times

2030- 5300rpm 3 times
2040 or over 5400rpm 3 times

hope this helps

Thanks but I dont really understand that, all ours does when you switch on the ignition is beep and the needle goes to 900rpm for a couple of seconds then drops back to 0 when the beeping stops!

I'm afraid I can't help weith a definitive answer, but at that scale, commercial operators would be stuffed within a matter of months - say you run 6 hrs a day, that;s only 150 days running!

I think Sarah's info has sffered the age old problem on ribnet of tabs not behaving themselves. The Hours are a combo of RPM & flashes of the limit lamp. I;ll reformat tghe firrst paragraph with spaces
Total operating hours Needle indication Rev limit lamp flashing
0-49h 500rpm NO
etc

Oh that makes more sense I think, so no flash of rev limit lamp and 900 rpm does mean 90 hours then?? So that would be very low for a 6 year old motor, the previous owner said he didnt use it at all last year and not much the year before and said the orig owner hardly used it all from new so could be right, I'm guessing its not easy to tamper with it like a tachometer in a car??

I'd imagine the only way would be with a new ECU.

You can get software to adjust the mileage, ie changing the clocks.....

Surely you wouldn't stoop so low. Unless you're about to put an ad on B+O
