New Diesel Searider.

Not sure if these pictures will come out but im trying anyway!!.
Here is the new Searider 5.4m. Diesel Inboard, Yanmar 4 cylinder 75hp Turbo Diesel. Which i have been playing with for the past year. This boat is the post production boat. What do you think??

Ok no pictures, Dont know why!! will try again. It seems the files are to big but not being a computer pro i have no idea how to make it happen. Any ideas?

.......some time back. Someone on here put me onto Paint Studia Lite 1.2 If you do a search on either the forum or the net I'm sure you'll find it. It's free and easy to use and I'm no computer expert.

Just had a quick look on the forum, there is some advise, however, take a look at this, I downloaded mine here.

You could always go to imagestation set up a free account, upload the pics and just post the url as a link to each one.

Turbo,

You have to make sure you click the correct button when you submit your post. Once you have uploaded the photos there will be two "submit post" buttons. You want to click the bottom one. The top one will only submit the text and not the pics.

Hope that solves the problem.

Turbo, how about some details then?

Whats she perform/handle like? Fuel consumption? How have you had a post production boat for a year? God/bad points etc etc.

Looks to be a very well finished and very robust RIB. Have you had any problems with her? Are Avon satisfied/is production due to start?

It handles like a dream, its one of those boats that anyone can drive, very forgiving! Maybe a bit slow for my liking. 28knts with 2 up 24 knts with 6 up.
But its not supposed to be a quick boat its for commercial use really. It will in the near future have upto a 125hp Yanmar but the customer that is buying this one only wants 75hp.

This boat is going to the states to be used by some kind of oil company if they like it they are going to order 20 of them. Then it may also repalace some of the Seariders that the mod use on the fishery protection boats.
Not sure about fuel consumption as this is the first time we have used it.
The only bad point that i can think of is that the two seats on either side make it difficult to move to the back of the boat and they are also quite high up so its hard to keep your feet on the deck. But we told Avon that and they are going to ammend it when it goes into production.
The boat will be in the Water at Seawork this year so if you want a ride come and see me on the pontoon. And the last picture is of me driving it im trying to get famous!!!

Cool, cheers for the info. Glad to hear its a success.

It certainly looks the part although i did wonder if the design would have been that successful due to the limited space and ability to cope with the engines weight in such a small boat.

Surely its one of the smallest diesel RIBs available?

I may well take a trip top seawork this year as ive not been before. Do Avon and the likes have many boats on show or will it just be the one?

My main criticism of RIBex is the lack of commercial kit so it would be nice to see whats on offer from the commercial boys. Is a bit of a trip however and not really worth while if im only going to be able to see one or two ribs!!

Do you work for Avon? Just wondered as youve got their prototype boat and youll be demo'ing it. Lucky man

No i dont work for Avon, I work for Barrus the engine people. Avon give us the first few boats and we do the initial engine fit before it goes into production.

For only a 77kg weight penalty you could put a 120, 1.7 Merc/Cummins in her and boost the top speed substantially!

We looked at putting the Mercruser Diesel in but the customer wanted Yanmars and also the parts for the Mercruser are quite alot more expensive over here. It seems a bit odd to us because the boat is going to be used in the states were Mercruiser parts are alot cheeper and easier to get hold of. But They wanted Yanmars. Cummins???????? thats not what we do!!!!!!

The tanks on the boat are 2x 25ltr ones. I think you can see them under the drivers seat. The made by us at work. Not sure about consumption yet though.

Mercruiser do do Cummins. I think you will find that some of the Mercrusier diesel range is developed from cummins blocks. The little dieseld are using Isuzu blocks?

I don't care who made the engines I want a go!

Really, i seriously considered that, but of course no chance...
