As you were effectively given this engine, and you say you know it will run perfectly with a new carb, then the brand new one seems good value at £143+vat. Still a cheap engine.
Beware buying a used carb anyway. If it's been in storage a while it too could be full of the crusty corrosion.
Never worth taking chances if this motor's taking you out to sea.
