I'm unable to send a message Via B&O because when you do it comes up with a message that the seller has not supplied an email address.
If anyone knows the advert to be genuine, or the seller pehaps they could put them in touch with me.
Thanks

Etec 200 on EBay. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Used-2010...AAAOSwrrld5MHz
Also a spares and repairs Mariner 225 Opti at Ash Marine if you're a glutton for punishment.

Thanks Spartacus
That's on my watch list, but is a 200HO, which is the 38Kg heavier big block version(I think 3.0l not 2.7l), as used in the 225 and 250 engines.
I do like the thought of the lower stressed bigger block putting out less power, but would like to stick to the lighter lower capacity engine if I can find one.
My Ocean RIB was originally rated to 175HP or 200Kgs, and like my existing Suzuki 200EFI the Yamaha 200HPDi and Evinrude 200ETEC come in very close to 200Kgs.
I can of course add some extra stiffness to the transom if required, but will hold out a little longer for a 200 I think.
The spares or repairs 225 Opti found on a boat under a bridge sounds a little dodgy to me, both legally and the fact that it's being described as 'Won't rev out'.
I don't mind a rebuild, but it's a risk at the price they want.

Quinquari have got a couple listed on their website. They're usually very reasonably priced - worth a call.

You've been looking for ages. Reminds me when I was hunting for a Yamaha 50hp 2-stroke many moons ago.
I do like the look of the Etec. Looks well looked after. What's the hours, given its 2010? If you were reinforcing the transom, could you get away with stainless steel braces like a Searider rather that a full fabrication or is that too crude?

Unfortunately the 200G2 is a really heavy motor compared to the original (do we call it a G1 now?) at @242Kgs in long shaft format.
They also don’t have a lot of history at higher hours so are a bit more of a risk than the older ones.
I did speak to Quinquari marine before Xmas as they always had used earlier 200’s on their website up until early last year.
The advise was to call back occasionally as they still have some customers with the older engines that may be looking to upgrade soon.

I’ve only really been looking semi-seriously since just before Xmas as the funds I was expecting early last year got delayed until then.
I’ve got the details on the 200HO from Bill Higham, but another reason I’m still holding out is their reputation, and it’s had some significant work done to it.
The Nashers Revenge’s Transom is enclosed with a rear deck and splash well, so if I add some strength it won’t be seen, but I’ll be doing it laying down and at arms length.
The transom does need a little work on the outside, but of course I need the weather to warm up a little before I break out the resin.

I’m still looking, but not desperate yet.
I’ve missed out on a couple of nice engines that have been sold before I could view, mainly because that horrible work thing means I can only travel at the weekends.
Then today I discovered the really nice, admittedly slightly too good to be true, Opti on Gumtree locally turned out to be a dealer pretending to be a private seller and it isn’t actually for sale. If I was feeling uncharitable I’d suggest it was advertised to draw people in to the old Ficht Ram he has for sale.
I know about the Opti on ebay etc in Exeter that was ‘found’ on a boat under a bridge and won’t rev out, it’s most likely a money pit.
I do have all the relevant engines on Ebay on my radar, but having investigated them I’m holding out for a while.
I’m not happy dealing with Bill Higham after a bad experience a few years back.
Anyway, it looks like I need to expand my search to include some slightly heavier engines, so if anyone can help.
The list is:
All XL shaft or Long at a push
ETEC 200
ETEC 200HO
ETEC 225
200HPDI – NOT 225
Opti 200
Opti 225
Thanks
Nasher.

Thanks GordyP, but as previously mentioned the G2 is far too lardy compared to the G1, and of course they are far out of my budget.
I call them occasionally as they have G1 200 and 200HOs advertised, but never actually have them in stock all the time.

Still Looking.
Quinquari say they have a couple of older G1 200ETECs at a customer, but I've been awaiting the details for a while now.
The 225 Opti currently advertised by Bill Higham at three different prices is looking more and more tempting, but I just don't trust them.

Think I'm sorted with this now.
I have a deposit down on one of these beauties below - the right hand one.
225 XL Optimax with only 375hrs on it.
Unfortunately the company who have them had to shut down for the time being before they got it off the back of the boat and shipped to me.

Great news Nasher. Step up from the old school Suzuki. What do you plan to do with the old lump?

What I'd like to do with it and what I'll end up doing with it are two different things.
I'd like to take the powerhead off and put it in a lightweight '7' type car, but I know I'll have to put it on Ebay as I don't have room to store it.

Good choice. I’ve had my 200 for 10yrs now and very happy with it and no major issues. Plenty of spares available state side too...
I would advise to over spec the starting battery and cables when fitting... lot of draw on startup.
Martini on here advised on replacing the inline oil filters frequently which I have done yearly regardless of how little hours I’ve done! He also has a good service item sheet on one of his posts [emoji1303]
Best of luck with it.

Hi
Would you believe I ordered one which arrived earlier this week!
But thanks for thinking of me.
