@200HP Outboard
Hi all
Not been on for ages, years in fact, life and lack of spare cash have just got in the way of going boating.
The Nashers Revenge has been hardly used for 3yrs, but has also been wrapped up well.
She does however need a new engine, which is part of the reason I stopped using her so much in the first place, so it’s sadly time to move on my beloved DT200EFI with it’s fantastic sound, sub 200Kg weight, and relatively easy to work on electronics.
I have two constraints, budget and weight, both obviously, so I’m looking for a 200HP small block 2-stroke such as a first generation ETEC or Yamaha HPDi.
If anyone has something available, or knows of something that could be suitable please let me know.
Thanks
Nasher.

Hi Nasher, there's a 225 Evinrude for sale over on Boatmad, Sam1cats is selling for 400 quid, might be worth a look see. I don't know anything about it but noticed it yesterday. I think he may also have a 300 but I might have got that wrong.
Welcome back btw.

Welcome back nasher.
Would you consider 150hp? Have details of 2000 Evinrude Ficht with full service?
You should sent a note to the guys at Clyde Outboard Services and Yampower in case they know of anyone who's repowering this year.

Thanks Guys.
I do want to look at something along the lines of an ETEC or HPDI, the DT200EFI is actually quite fuel efficient at lower speeds, and if I think spending a few hundred quid on another really old engine that I don't know the history of could be worse than persisting with the DT which I know really well.
I know I said I'm on a budget, but I'm talking £2-5K, so still nowhere near new engine money.
I'll try Clyde and Yampower as well as a Quinquari who always seam to have a few used ETECs about, and will have a look on Boatmad.
I'm in no rush to do it this season even, so can bide my time for the right deal.
The Ocean is a really heavy hull, being commercial based, so I'd really like to stick with a 200, but have to watch the weight.
Nasher.

Thanks Guys
I know they are a good engine, and I'll look it all up again, but I believe the Opti is significantly heavier than the Etec or HPDi.

I've just had a quick Google session.
Based on engines from @2005.
200 Opti - 225Kgs
200 HPDi - 215Kgs
200 Etec - 194Kgs - If you can find one!
200HO Etec - 231Kgs

Slightly off top, Do you know why they done two version of the 200 etec?
My new boat has the 200 H.O. and was curious to learn of the differences.

One is often referred to as the big block and the reason is to take advantage of the 10% HP allowance in EPA classification and is normally more cubes.
I.e the HO are upper end of badged HP plus 10%. The non HO can be up to 10% less than badged HP for ratings purposes.

The 200HO is the bigger 3.3L block from the 225 and 250 and produces more torque than the 200.
The 'Normal' 200 is the 2.7L block, the same as the 150 and 175.

Thanks very much for that.
Sounds like the better options to me. Cannot wait to get it back and in the water, to put it through its paces.

Defo the better option if weight isn't an issue.

Sorry to resurrect this, but after a couple of false starts in 2018 and last year I’m now fully back up to speed and ready to get The Nashers Revenge back on the water later this year.
So am back looking for an ETEC200, HPDi200 or similar, they tick all the boxes including weight limit.
There appear to be a few more 225’s about, and ETEC200HOs which are the bigger block, so I might have to go down that route and deal with the weight somehow.
Does anyone have anything for sale?
I'm wathching some 225s on Ebay, but will carry on looking for a 200 for a short while.
Thanks
Nasher.

Bumpty Bump.
Still looking for a decent used 200HPDi, ETEC200 or similar.
