A frame storage

Morning all

Like most dive club ribs ours has two of the yellow flare boxes on the A frame. We keep flares, first aid kit, lunches, keys etc in them.

They both need replacing as they've gone very brittle. Does anyone;

A - have a couple going for less then the current £30 eabay price?

B - use a different system for storage as we'd be happy to try something else if it's an improvmenet.

Many thanks

Andy

Flare box holders

I have been searching for flare box holders too. Where on e-bay did you see them for £30? I can only find one for £60!

I'm contemplating making holders out of courlene fishing net and bungy cord. Don't know if this is feasible!? As long as the flare boxes pop out if the boat sinks and they don't jump out at every wave, all good!

I really must get myself some flare boxes for size.

I modified those on Aging Youths boat to fit his A-Frame and could easily knock some up quite cheaply out of Stainless steel strap for those that want some.

Gents, just spotted these 21Litre flare boxes at a rasonable price. Just right for mounting on the frames that you are trying to buy / build!

Hi
does anyone know a good contact for the holders that attach to the 'A' frame, I have the boxes but any sites I have checked out are asking £200 for a holder.

Nasher,

You could be into a good thing here. I could do with two flare box racks. Spread the word and get a order list going and name a price!!!

I don't think he's after the frames. Just the Boxes!

It is only the boxes that I need. A search on ebay under rib boats / accessories pulls them up.

Simon, I have a spare yellow box in the garage if you want to borrow it. I'll drop it round on the way to or from work this week.

Would theholders look good made of stainless rod, polished. Perhaps five mm dia?

I could be up for a pair of 'holders'.

Will you make them with a clamp?

I'll need to have a look when I've borrowed the box from Pete.

The trouble with a clamp is making something that will fit different A-Frames.
I think they will need to be 'fitted', or at the least I'll need a decent dimensioned drawing or photo of what they will need to fit in each case.

One thought I had was that as most A frames are a standard pipe size then the SS pipe clamp fittings should fit, thus you could bolt it onto the A Frame without having to weld on mounts.

I have made my own box frame from stainless steel 25 X 3mm strap.

I used stainless steel Jubilee clips to fasten it to the A frame, it works a treat.

We use flat about 30mm I think easier to straighten out than pipe/bar/box. I think they were about £25 from a local fabricator. Attached by stainless ligntning banding (endless jubilee clip)

Seems to be the average price.
