Boat side red socket for Evinrude

Before I chop the red plug off the engine and put something on that I can get a socket for, does anyone have a spare red socket? Amazingly, I have had no luck with ebay, at least with UK suppliers and I am not ordering from the states!

All the best

David

Not the etec one, much older, about 1981. It looks like the plug on ebay item: 281394447046. It is a round, red plug with two different sizes of pins. I'll get a better picture of the engine side. I took the camera down last night, but then forgot what I was supposed to be doing and...

All the best

What do you want the socket for?

That's the electrical loom connection for remote control. I take it you're running outboard via tiller?

No, I'll need to get the engine's remote working as there is no tiller and I couldn't reach it from the seat anyway! Unfortunately, the remote box I have has no socket as it has been cut off. I could just connect direct to the engine, but would prefer to do it right.

All the best

I see the confusion, I need to update my profile, though even the little Narwhal has engine remote control.

Thanks, yes that appears to be the right one. I am too skinflint to pay that though, especially as I have experience of what the import duty could cost!

All the best

David

Thank you. I am sure there will be other little bits I need. A set of carb gaskets is just about guaranteed. I might get lucky though.

All the best

David

You do not have to have that connecter and can replace both sides with a new connector. Not sure where to get a marine connection in the UK though.
