Boat-yard ltd or Boat-yard.co.cc - Beware! Its a scam!!

Hello People, Just to let anyone know that these guy's are advertising cheap outboards, and ribs on boatsandoutboards as private sellers, then direct you to their website or send an invoice trading as boat-yard ltd. They ask for payment by bank transfer to a barclays account. They will pretend they are part of a legitimate company known as The Boatyard limited, based in Port Bannatyne, Ilse of Bute, but they are in no way connected to this legitimate business.ITS A SCAM! I KNOW ITS BEEN SAID BEFORE BUT DONT SEND MONEY BY BANK TO BANK TRANSFER UNLESS YOU ARE CERTAIN OF THE COMPANY YOU ARE DEALING WITH!! In fact if you have anything to do with the following names, emails and bank details think twice!!

Alan H or Daniel Cargan
Boat-Yard Ltd
64 HARBORO ROAD, SALE
CHESHIRE, M34 6GE,England

Company treasurer / Account Holder: Claudiu Adrian Zidonu
Sort Code: 20-26-46
Account: 33573397
IBAN: GB47BARC20264633573397
Swift / BIC: barcgb22
Bank name: Barclays Bank Poplar Branch

danielcargan@hotmail.com
fabrizioorongione@hotmail.com

Original advert was:
PAA44261 - MERCURY 40hp outboard - £ 1900.00
Outboard Engine for sale , MERCURY 40hp outboard - Boats And Outboards

I have informed Boatsandoutboards, I just hope no-one else falls for it! Cant believe I did!!! What a t**t!!

Dear Moderator: (Hope this is the right place to post! Sorry if it isnt!)

good post!

Couple things - Is that a cheap outboard ? My prices are all wrong

Not sure you should post bank details on an open forum though. Legitimate or not ?

I blame you Peter for not having an outboard in my price range at the time!

No seriously, I got sucked in with a yamaha 80hp fourstroke 110hrs year 2002, for £1400 delivered! But i cant beleive how stupid I've been!

As for posting bank details.....This guy is a crook, people need to know, in case it happens again. Incidentally he has now emailed me again asking me to send the money to a Lloyds bank account in someone else's name now!

I agree completely (other than it being my fault on the outboard price of course) but I'm just not sure of the legality of posting the bank details, I mean how do we know for sure that they are even his details ? I'd just watch you don't get yourself into any trouble that's all.

That site is full of scams. I wouldn't buy anything without seeing it in person unless it's coming from a trade account on there, and from a company you know.

Still common sense takes you a long way. £1400 for a yam 80 4 stroke ? I wish....

Did you hand over any cash ?

I know for sure they are his details (or an account he has fraudulently created) because i transferred the money to it yesterday! And i cant get it back! Still you never know, I might still get the yammy delivered in a day or two!!! NOT!

I have spoken to the legitimate company and they confirm they have nothing to do with that site, and the address the scammer gave is also non-existant. Should have spent a little more time checking it out instead of thinking, ohh great deal! better be quick and buy it!!

Thanks! I'll put this one down to experiance and having a weak moment! I aint going to get it back, but if I can try and make sure no-one else makes the same mistake I will be happy. But.... if you can find a yammy four stroke for me for the same price give me a shout!!

Sorry to hear that VR6. I have tried to get the website shutdown or place an advisory on it, but to no avail. This type of thing happens too much too often...its just live and learn! Stupid thing is the guy is still emailing me pretending to be trying to refund my money???? Why is he doing this?, I think he's just got nothing better to do! On a totally different note, your user name... is that a vw thing? I have a corrado VR6!

It is, and it appears he's an AOL user. The email addy is registered to a district of Washington DC called Redmond.

I suggest you try reporting him to AOL-maybe they can trace him. Somehow I doubt you'll have any joy though as I suspect that's either a proxy address or a hacked PC.

I e-mailed what looked like 2 different sellers of 2 different ribs that were for sale on boats and outboards and the idiot sent back the same message word for word from the same e-mail address for both boats. I e-mailed him back asking which person he is and if he has an issue with a split personality, he replied saying he has 2 names and is selling both boats. What a prat.

Lol! I know what I did was the stupidity thing to do, but I got carried away by the deal! But I really think boats and outboards should look at improving the site, maybe if the seller is new, theycould have a big red warning sign highlighting that the seller is new and not to pay for goods by instant bank transfer....it would at least ring alarm bells!

I have enquired about several items on boats and outboards which have been on outlying scottish islands (alegedley) which have turned out to be scams I reported two small diesel generators adds to boats and outboards who duly removed them only for them to be relisted with the same pictures a few weeks later clearly there vetting procedure is poor

now if i enquire about an item & it is in a remote area I just say I have a freind who lives near & ask for an address & time to view if its a scam then they usually avoid making apointments or offer to deliver foc if there genuine they will be happy to arrange a viewing & will give a bonafide address which you can look up on google & check out

dont think you stand much chance of seeing your cash again but lets hope no one else gets caught out!

Thanks for everyone's input so far! I hope this has proved a useful thread even if it only serves as a reminder, to what should already be common sense!
