Etec 250 HO. 2011 - 151hrs.

2011 Etec 250 HO long leg. Only 151 hours, very good condition, regular serviced. Great opportunity for Evenrude enthusiasts! They are Marmite engines - and I hate it!
Runs well, but had a few minor peripheral problems. There are no local Evenrude agents or mechanics, so repairs etc very expensive and difficult for me. Finding spares is time consuming and costly. I've been offered a very good deal on a newer 4 stroke, so decided to bite the bullet. I've been advised to 'break it' for spares, because, apparently there's more demand for good bits than a complete engine?
It will be removed from my boat mid November so please PM me for any parts you may be looking for. I would attach photos but forgotten how to drive this website. Let me know any interest and I'll send pics and last engine readout etc by email.

Parting out might lead to a higher final price, but it will take a long time and you will probably get stuck with less wanted parts.
Will not be an easy sale, but someone will really want it if you have time. But it will be a bit of a lucky shot. If I was in the market for that size engine I would be very interested. But the price I would offer will be disappointing I'm afraid.

If you part out, make sure to number the injectors + pull the diagnostics file on them. Will be worth a lot more that way.

Thanks for your advice Aquaplanning. I will not start stripping it until somebody wants enough specific components, so meanwhile I'm open to offers for complete motor with all ancillaries including two ICON smart gauges, control box, oil tank etc. etc. also extra 4 blade prop..
Had engine running just before removal yesterday. It was ok but still has occasional stalling issues. Now stored in basement carpark for easy access.
Happy to consider any offers.

Just been told by the engineer fitting my new engine, that when they stripped out the Etec rig they found the separate inline fuel flow meter was blocked - which explains why the engine was struggling!

The blockage is easy to fix but the potential is that running lean due to a blockage it could easily have melted a piston or two
Is it too late to sea test it again? It could be the difference between getting running engine money or parts money.

Thanks Beamishken, forgive me for confusion .. I was reporting secondhand from their work in the yard. I had asked them to see if it ran ok before they removed it. Apparently they removed the meter and the engine worked well. It is too late for sea trials because it's in our basement now. They took a short video of it running which I will get hold of. I can't try to claim it's now perfect, but mechanically it is great. I'm just not clever enough to understand the vagaries of sodding computer controlled engines. So sick of false error codes on my last three VW's that I've now bought a very old 'classic' car with plugs, points and distributor ....

Yeh I know what you mean about modern engines, there a nightmare we also run older cars purely because I'm not getting into the whole adblue, dpf problems.
I'm not keen on those etecs but it might be cheap big hp for someone if they found the underlying fault during removal, I guess it's not too difficult to do a compression test off the boat to confirm if there was any cylinder damage a six can run surprisingly well on 4 cylinders at tickover but obviously not so well once under load
