Evinrude 4hp Yachtwin Outboard

4HP Evinrude Yachtwin, Shortshaft

Nice compact light little outboard, very simple. Not sure of age, but must be 70's.

Direct drive, no gears. In good condition for age, all original.

Came as part of a package that I bought for the trailer.

No use to me, starts up and seems to operate fine. Comes with a fuel tank and line.

Pick up from Warwickshire, or could probably courier for about £20

£150

I may be interested-

Could you do me a wee favour & measure the width of the case so I know if it will fit inside the A- frame or not. If it;s the same a s my open bopttomy case'd aux I might also ask to measure the bolt spacing on the head - leg joint to check it's the same leg as my longshaft open bottom casing version to swap them.

Thanks

No access to my favourite engine brochures website in here but I reckon that's either late 70s or pre 1965-ish. Will try to confirm tonight.

This motor has been built almost unaltered from 55-74 if memory serves me right.

I will get the measurements tomorrow. I'll see if I can date it from the serial number aswell.

There was a change to the case - the "diagonal" as in the photo above, and the open bottom type as I currently have which is in chocolate teapot territory on the back of a rib when the main engine telltale jets the leg of the aux and sprays a lot of salt water at the lower spark plug.....

I agree the petrol burning bit inside didn't change much in 20 odd years.

You now see why I am interested in Sam's engine!

Cool, thanks. 5 bolts on the leg - powerhead joint? A single one ahead of the shaft, the other 4 two abreast the shaft(ish) the other two behind?

Cheeky ask if you can't get a serial number - lift it to "up" position & take a pic "inside" the clamp? that should confirm it's the same type of leg.

In a bit of a rush this morning so sorry if I didn't get all of the measurements you wanted.

The cowl at its widest point is 240mm. There are 4 bolts between the leg and powerhead. The head looks like its been changed at some point as it has gold/green paint.

Have taken some images of the clamp/leg. Also wiped some de-greaser over the leg and its cleaned up nicely. I do have a guy coming to collect the boat that it came with tonight, and he may be interested in it.

The serial no. Is 4336C C 83676

Sam

Thanks. That'll fit nicely. Same width as my current one.

Looks like a differnet powerhead - leg flange, but the leg - clamp - swivel bracket assembly look similar.

If the guy for the boat wants it I won't loose sleep, but in the meantime I'll go & compare some microfiches, as going purely by the pics I may be able to use my longshaft extension kit to do a "simple" gearbox swap.

No worries, thanks for measuring it.

At least I know I can buy the next one I find & it will fit.

Having found these ones are the same width as the one I have, I'm interested.

Until I find one, it's a case of a poly bag tied tightly round the aux case.....
