Genuine Avon Searider A-Frame
Hi Folks,
I have an Avon Searider A-Frame I bought to put on the back of my 5.4 Searider (When I was refurbing it!) but have since semi-abandoned the project.
This is an extremely solid double tubed a-frame, made out of stainless, with fitted port and starboard nav lights, and space for nav lights and aerials on the top. All wiring is run internally through the A-Frame, and exits via a hole at the bottom.
There are two flag cleats at the bottom.
Now, here's the best bit. If you own a 4m searider (and I think a 4.7m too, although I could be wrong!) this a-frame replaces and supersedes your existing transom legs. So, all you have to do to fit it, is undo the transom and deck bolts, remove legs, put in a-frame, do up bolts. 20m job max! You don't even have to worry about sealing holes to the deck, as the leg bolts should be already glassed in.
This is a very tough bit of kit, and it came off a 4m searider being used for training. There are no dents or bends in it - 100% A1 condition. It can be viewed in Portsmouth.
These cost well over £600 new from Avon, and I am asking for sensible offers.
If you have any double jockey seats for swapsies, might also be worth getting in touch!

Don't write it off yet Nos, it won't fit Rogue Wave's 5.4, and nobody else seems interested, so it may well still be available when your engine woes are well behind you!

Hi,
How much are you looking for? Do you know if it would fit a Tornado 5mtr?
Thanks

Hi Springtide,
Depends on what you want to offer
I don't know if it would fit a tornado - it would probably require a little more effort than fitting it to a searider, but I can't see why not. It's raining at the moment, but I'll go outside and take some measurements when it abates...

Jimbo,
Is the A frame still available?
I own a 4m Avon Searider which I keep in Fort Blockhouse (ex HMS Dolphin) so am local to Portsmouth.

Hi,
Is this still for sale? If so will it fit a 5.4 Searider or need modifying?
Cheers
Neil

Hi Neil,
I've just replied to your e-mail...
It will need modifying to fit a 5.4 searider, I did a little reasearch when I bought it. As the legs on a 5.4 searider are longer, and higher (the 5.4 searider has a high transom with engine cutout, the 5m is all the same height) the best solution would be to chop the a-frame legs off, and weld them onto your existing legs. An easy job for a welder, but not as simple as just bolting on to a 4m!
