Handheld VHF takes 5 x aaa batteries. I use rechargeable type.
Whip is cracked no damage to aerial - sends and receives. I’ve used tightly wound insulation tape - removed for the photo - sikaflex would sort it.
Not sure on price - I’m after a fixed vhf
