Hi dude, sorry but I'm going to use this now. It was a hydraulic Jack plate that has 5" of travel so prob overkill for what you wanted. Sorry dude

beerbelly, on your other thread you mentioned you had two more holes to go on lifting the engine. Have you tried this for starters ?
Also do you have any space on the transom to move the engine higher if you re drill the holes higher and fill the old ones.

cheers chris yes I am going to try lifting it the last two holes that will get the cav plate within an inch of the bottom of the transom and see if that helps .but I am concerned with the reports of others breaking the saddle if its above the top of the transom .that's where my interest in a jack up plate is coming from (though as the points of contact are where the bolts pass through the transom I'm having difficulties in seeing how if theres a gap around the transom top why it would cause the saddle to break)

You have a Yamaha, I wouldn't worry about the saddle breaking 👍

well I have lifted the outboard the last 2 holes the cav plate is now about 5mm below the keel so should be ok
as far as I can see the saddle is massive so should be strong enough. in its lower position it has the same contact area with the transom as it has now and as the distance between the prop and the bottom mounting is now shorter then theres less torque effect on the transom we just have a slightly higher c of g .sea trails next and fingers crossed
