Wanted: Looking for Barrus 5 gal cans

Hello,

I am looking for Barrus 5 gal cans and would like to add them as mobile tank.
Shipping to Germany would be required.

how about some of these mate I have a few? I can ship to germany, theyve save on deck space, easy to carry and store and has a shoulder carry strap - the SBS use them, they are bomb proof

I have sent some to san diego, norway, sweden and netherlands

I have one of these & they are excellent.

they really are, I run them in phantom 16's as well as ribs, good bow ballast also - if you go out on head sea head windy day and don't have a water bow tank, these can sit up front strapped down easily

When I opened the thread I had a vision about a battery of several Barrus'.

Thinking about the fuel bladders now this seems to be the better solution for me.
I can tie them in parallel to the tubes and vary the position towards bow or stern depending on needs. I am hoping that they are easy to carry to a petrol station when there is no fuel available at the pier.

I think I would like to work with 2 of them.

How do you fill them? How do they react to temperatures when normal jerry cans would "shrink" or "expand"?

Two fuel bladders arrived here this morning. Excellent quality and very sturdy! Awesome!

You’ll get some funny looks at the petrol station when filling them. Fill from the top. As it fills the tube gets rigid. Leave some space before capping off.

Use a Phillips screwdriver or similar to tighten the fuel cap. There are drilled holes in the alloy for this very reason. If you’re changing the fuel connection (depending on outboard manufacturer), use a little PTFE tape on the thread for secure fit.

Regards heat and expansion, yes, they expand in heat. My advice, keep them out of direct sunlight if moored up, or even if the boat is sitting on your drive for a long period. I’m sure they’ll be fine, but I’d have them in shade until you’re using them.

sounds advice above from spartacus, my experience to this day when filling, is when at the petrol station, lean up right against car, support with one hand whilsts slowly filling, you can get 22 litres in them, I've found 20litres a sweet spot, the first 3 litres lift up the bladder and shake to form a bottom shape that holds , and continue filling, then at 12 litres another adust/shake, make good use of the shoulder strap to see how easy they are to carry, enjoy

I filled one bladder with 20 litres this morning as a first test. I noticed the little holes, great advice to use them with a bolt to tighten the cap. That'll do!
Letting the bladder hanging while filling works fine.

Guess I need some time to practice now.

I got me a Suzuki quick connector as well which seems to fit fine.
