Mariner 150 optimax engine outboard
Hi, I have a 99 optimax engine, 150 efi. I bought it with my friend to put on a rib but we struggled to find a suitable boat. We have bought a boat with an inboard so I can't see us using it. It came on a speed boat and we had it running and pumping water, gears engage but I never had it out on the water. Nice s/s prop, controls, wiring, oil tank, gauges etc. The cowling was damaged so we bought an excellent condition mercury optimax cover. This is a long shaft 20" engine.
We live in Scotland but can ship anywhere in the uk for £90.
My friend has it listed on eBay right now for £2495 but will take a sensible offer if it's someone on here. We also have a sea star helm and 15ft hoses and the hydraulic ram, these are also on eBay but can be included too.
I can send pics etc

It is now spares or repairs. I have been told it has a suspect ecu fault so spares or repairs. Sold as seen £1250

Cheers. What makes you think it's an ecu problem anyway?

A guy I spoke to said that was the problem. I am going to start breaking the engine if there is no interest by the middle of the week.
Cheers

Sorry but there are no offers at that price. I will just strip it if I don't get £1100, I see you are selling off parts too.
Cheers

Ok, still would appreciate the numbers.
I know these motors quite well now and the even though some one has told you what the fault is does not mean he's right. Fantastic engines, but there's an awful lot of bits in them!

Yes, we got it for a project, ended up buying a rib with a 4.3 mercruiser so have lost interest. It's lying in my garage on a allot so I'll try to check tomorrow. Thanks

I've not had time. My friend is going to start breaking the engine for me this week and get it listed on eBay. I will get him to check numbers when he collects it. Cheers

Seems a shame, because if I've got the right ecu then I will buy it. Simple as that.
The problem described does not sound terminal.
Any idea on the hours?

Not sure of hours. Yes it is a shame but I'll get a lot more for it that way.

Indeed but it's also alot of work. Seems a shame to strip a motor that may only have a minor fault.

I'll get more £ back, plus I don't have the hassle of doing it. Thanks for the interest.
