Mariner/Yamaha 40hp outboard
I have managed to get my sticky paws on a yamaha 50, so my mariner yamaha 40hp is now up for sale. I thought I would put it up here before fleabay in the new year.
Good bits-
This engine has been very reliable to me over the years, it is one of the bulletproof Yamaha block 2 cylinder models. I have never managed to pin down its age via the serial but I guess it in the 80's.
I have had it serviced every year I have had it and previous owner stated the same. It pumps water like train and works exactly like it should. Flat out with a 12p prop it will push my little searider to just over 30 knots.
It is electric start but with a pull cord too, manual tilt long shaft model.
Bad bits-
Paint is missing from skeg and the leg could do with being touched up. I have primer and paint but not had time to do it so will include in sale.
The tilt lock is a gunked up, again just needs degreasing, cleaning and greasing up again.
Slight rattle from big end bearing, I can't hear it, but at the last service it was picked up so think it fair to mention.
The whole thing could do with some tlc, a good clean and touching up but it is a solid engine. Offers?
