Mercury XR10 Shortshaft Outboard
Reluctantly up for sale is my Mercury XR10 two stroke outboard. I used this on the back of my 3.5m inflatable and it performs great.
The engine was built in 1997, and comes from the same block as the 15hp rather than the smaller CC 9.9hp/8hp/6hp block. A search on here shows that apparantly the XR10 was closer to 12/13hp.
It runs great, and is really smooth, it starts up 1st/2nd pull from cold, and on half a pull when warm. It pumps plenty of water, and everything operates as it should do. It has just had a service, including new fuel filter, carb rebuild, new spark plugs, new gear lube etc. It has just had new throttle/gear cables fitted, all together with the service this cost just under £200. It is ready to go for next season.
The engine is shortshaft, manual start, tiller control with the twist grip gears on the throttle control. It has a kill switch and a stop switch on the end of the tiller arm.
As you can see from the images this engine is very tidy under the cover, the lower leg has been resprayed with genuine mercury phantom black, and it has been done well, the rest of the engine is original paintwork. The only thing that lets this engine down is the lifting handle is broken. The engine comes with a 12.5lt fuel tank.
This engine is very light and easily carried compared to a fourstroke of the same horse power. Weight is 34kg, a 9.9hp fourstroke normally weighs between 40kg and 50kg.
I have decided to keep my fourstroke and sell this one, purely because it is newer, I will probably regret this next time I carry my other engine any distance.
£700.00
