Navman/Northstar Sounder

Never thought I'd say this:

Looking for a Navman or Northstar fishfinder to replace a defective unit, which has been flush mounted into the console (before I got the boat )

Don't need the transducer (or at least I don't think I do )

OR

If anyone knows someone who can fix the existing unit, that would be great. It's a power issue - takes loads of attempts to power up the unit and when it finally switches on, it will only stay on for a few minutes.

Presume you've seen this, dood:

Linky

You don't say which unit you have - do they all have the same footprint?

Yep, that's the one, willk. Same unit - it's already on the watch list. There's another on there, wearing Northstar clothes, which I've also got my eye on.

have you thought about sending it to the service centre? They do fixed price fixing and seem to be able to repair most things

I thought about it, but didn't know what sort of costs would be involved. Do you have an idea on how much a fixed price fix would cost, Miller?

have you made sure your electrical connections haven't gone green and horrible. (voltage drop can cause this)

I had a dodgy screen on mine, it cost me £44.95 for them to take it to pieces;turned out to be a loose connection and repair. they also gave it a once over and a waterproofing test and that included delivery back to me...They offer a pretty good service, quick and informative

Thanks, I'll give them a call to see what they can do. Don't suppose you have a contact number?
