Opti 125hp Prop Wanted

Hi, My Ribcraft 585 will be running an optimax 125hp, off the top of my head I reckon it will need about a 21" pitch prop? However I'm going to be running a 6" standoff bracket...

I have a 15" & 17" but would like a 19" or 21" prop.

Thanks Alex

Opti 125hp Prop Wanted

My mate has the same engine on a 5.7 or 5.8 Humber Ocean Pro, also running a 6 inch set back jack plate, his over revs with a 19" pitch, he reckons a 21" should sort it.

Yeah, having run a 585 with a 140 suzuki which kicks out the around the same hp as the 125 Opti I reckon I'm looking for any of the following to have a good test to see where my revs are:

21" Ali 3 blade
20" Ali 4 blade
20" SS 3 blade
19" SS 4 blade

Interesting comment about the power outputs of the DF140 v Opti. Which way do you reckon it goes? Is the Suzuki under delivering or is the Opti kicking out more than 125?

Mercury Marine Laser II Propeller From 150hp Optimax | eBay

Not quite "Excellent condition" but would be OK as a tester. If it was cheaper.....

Internet rumour is DF140s underdeliver. Rumour has it that they only just fall into the +/-10% needed to be called 140hp. So it must be true

Whether that's true or not, the Opti is still 15kg lighter and given that it's a 2 stroke, should be quite a bit more torque to play with.

Doesn't fit.

From memory, with Laser props, even number pitch fits the inline optis, odd # pitch fits the V6s

High 5's only fit 135+ hp outboards (and Alpha & Bravo s/d's). I think it's because a 125 gearcase is a smaller diameter

Dunno, I'm a bit out of touch with the latest Merc props. I only use Mirage and Bravo 1's. Mirage are odd pitch size, B1's are even.

Not sure about that. From the spec sheet
HI-5 (V-4) -- These propellers have a 2" progressive pitch and a parabolic rake of 30 degrees. Used on the 75 through 150 HP outboards and XR4 series.
