Outboard 70Hp to 110Hp

Hi,

About to give up on my 2 stroke Yamaha 70Hp - the most reliable engines in the world they may be and this one may have had a very quiet life (250 hours since 2005) but it has a running problem which neither I nor a specialist seem to be able to get to the bottom of...

So, looking for a reasonably modern outboard, ideally 90hp but will consider anything 70 to 110, 4 stroke or possibly even 2 stroke, long shaft. Must be in good condition and perfect working order - no ifs no buts - as have spent more than enough time tinkering down the boat yard and far too little time on the water.

Location Fareham, Boat Hamble.

Any offers??

Regards,

Rob

Bill Higham have a few Yamaha 75hp that they can fit carbs from Yamaha 90 and new decals. https://www.billhigham.com/boat-engi...-left-call-now

I've got a soft spot for these engines, good grunt from a standing start, easy to maintain, lightweight, smell of 2-stroke oil in the morning.

What was wrong with the 70hp? Surprised you never got to the bottom of it. With these things, it's the difference between a mechanic who's been around 2-stroke engines for years and can simply hear them at tick over. Was the timing and throttle all reset when the issues started?
