Outboard wanted 90hp
Hi, after a good 90hp outboard for my 5.4 searider....wants to be 2003 onwards please, 2 stroke, prefer mercury but all considered, must be clean/reliable as had enough of older motors messing abut when your out in the rough stuff...... Not got a blank cheque for it but realise it wont be £50 either...... Ideally would like an engine demo on boat in the water or if your a dealer and confident in what you got then 6 months warranty would suffice... Many thanks, hope you can help....pm me please

Might have a tohatsu 90hp 2004 coming up for sale. My engineer is soon to give it a service as I no longer use the 2 smoke option much anymore. I'll let you know I it is going to be taken off my 5.4 SR

Its right at the start of the season. Most sell at the end after getting fed up etc Conversely, you will pay more for one now too.

Hi, thanks for that, my season has no start or end, yeah people might try and charge more now but if they want a deal then there is always a deal to be had, just a bit surprised that in this current climate there arnt a few more on offer..... Anyway, will keep looking and jump on the right one when it appears..

We've got a Merc 75hp 4 stroke 2005 coming in this week and a Merc 90hp 4 stroke next week. Not many 2 strokes about right now. If anything crops up I'll be sure to let you know.

Consider this then your lucky day. These mint Yammie engines don't come up often... so withdraw the readies and don't even think about haggling on price! A feeding frenzy is about to ensue... Yamaha 2006 90hp | Second Hand Boats and Engines

yam 90
chased the yam 90 but its a no goer, dealer wouldnt give warranty unless they fitted it to my boat at a cost of £600!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and if i just bought it and fitted it myself then no warranty given and receipt would say engine sold as SCRAP!!!! meaning that the old fit for purpose claim couldnt even be used in a court should it be not fit for purpose..... got to be honest ive never come across anything like this before as in £600 for fitting just to get your warranty or sold as scrap at £2750!!!!! please note the above statements were said to me by the dealer but may be a different story should you try and buy it...thanks

Are you really going to tow it all the way from Wolverhampton to Lostwithiel for servicing? As in, are you really expecting to be able to meet the terms of a dealer issued (rather then manufacturers) warranty?
If you aren't, then why would the dealer saying that on a reciept make any difference?

dont quite understand where you are coming from? the point i was making is that why does a dealer want £600 to bolt an engine on and then and only then would they give you a WARRANTY!! surely if a dealer is selling an engine a warranty shouldnt depend on them fitting it, and why would they want to put sold as scrap on the receipt if they are confident in there engine....that was the point i was making......... dont know why you were refering to servicing etc etc

Sounds like they are trying to cover themselves both ways. Rightly or wrongly.
Firstly by only giving a warranty if they fit it (which they cannot do) I assume so it's fitted correctly to prevent any warranty claim for a fault caused by incorrect fitting. Unlikely
Secondly by putting it as scrap so you cannot go back saying its not "fit for purpose"
I think the point nos is trying to make is that the warranty may require them to service it in order to "qualify" (which shouldn't be the case)aim which case you'd have to return it to them in the event of a claim/service being needed within warranty. If your not able to do that then it won't matter what warranty they are offering.
I'm sure there is a compromise somewhere to secure a sale.

COMPROMISE???????????????????????????????????????? ?? believe me i spent approx 2 hours on the phone over the course of a day trying to sort a deal, even said i would pick up from them on a friday fit it out at my mates place in totnes over the weekend and then return it to them on monday for them to sign it off, as in inspect the fit out and approve it so i get my warranty. but no chance, its £600 fit out by them or nothing!!!!.... as servicing goes, warranty was only for 3 months,so wouldnt think it would need a service, i keep my rib in totnes so returning engine to them for a claim wouldnt have been a problem...... BANGING my head against a brick wall came to mind whist trying to sort a deal.... and just to clarify the engine wasnt a new one, it was a 2nd hand unit...thanks

That'll be because they can sell it easily at that price in that location, and someone will put £600 in their pocket for fitting it. It's business, not personal. They'd be stupid to do themselves out of the money.
I assume you told them it's a very easy fit without underdeck cable routing etc?
