Plastimo Radar reflector

Got a few of these in at the moment. Power boat edition.

They are 560mm long and 50mm in diameter, weigh about 300g and offer up 2m square of reflective area. Easily mounted and fold flat when not in use for simple stowage.

Plastimo part no: P25587

£27.00 delivered to Ribnet members.

i cant believe those are still made. studies have shown they are ineffective, and they break for fun. the sea must be littered with perspex tubes and aluminium. i had two, before fitting an echomax 'dustbin' which is clearly built for the job.

Having been invisible to 3 boats on wrong side of a channel who seemed more interested in bringing the charter fishermen home, it made me realise how vulnerable I was to boats not keeping a proper lookout so investigated these things on the chance that someone in the wheel house might spot me on their radar.

However, after reading this article, decided that without a bigger boat with 4m mast and £500 I would be just as invisible. http://www.yachtingmonthly.com/fileB...ce_ym_june.pdf
