Reliable Mercury 9.8HP (110) For Sale
I have a super reliable Mercury 9.8HP (110) For Sale
I bought it over 20 years ago from a friend of my fathers who had never really used it - that was the truth - he’s a gent.
It sat about in his garage, then I bought it and used it a bit for 2-3 years on my Avon, it then sat around in my fathers garage whilst I moved away - etc etc - got married - had a family – etc etc.
Right 2009. I bought my 6 year old son an optimist and needed my Avon Rover to chase after him.
I have been using the engine for the last two summers with no problem but this autumn I decided to up date it to something a bit newer and bought a cracking Tohatsu 9.8 2S of off a fellow Ribneter.
So now I have my older engine to sell on.
Everything above is the absolute truth, it’s a great engine that starts everytime you need it, no matter how long its been sat still, I even have the original owners book and a Mercury lock.
It’s not in bad condition cosmetically, but neither is it concourse, its 25 odd years old. When I got it out of hibernation 2 and a bit years ago it had a new impeller, a change of gearbox fluid and a kill cord fitted.
I would far rather one of you had it than put it on e-bay. If you have any questions or can help date it please do get in contact.
The picture attached was taken this September – the boat is not for sale – its just the engine.
Whats it worth? good question, give me an idea or make me an offer.
Toby

£100, when I said I'd rather one of you guys had it rather than put it on e-bay I didn't actually mean "have" it.
Try again, if that's all it worth I'll keep it.
By the way, its been dated as 1983.

I'll pass then.
If I'd wanted it I'd have bid you about £200-250 on it depending on what it was like when I checked it over if it's any help.

hi
i brought a 4.5hp mercury, around the same age,and was the same model, but didnt come with much history unlike yours. anyway it was a great little runner and i paid £185 for it off fleabay, then sold it on again on fleabay for £130, when i upgraded. i think your is worth what your after, i would have paid £250-£300 for it on fleabay.
