Cleats? Why use a cleat? Surely you want an eye/D ring?

Is your A-Frame strong enough?

Will your weld be strong enough?

Does your A Frame have any electronics connected up? I'd be worried about heat on them during the weld so would want to disconnect (and remove) them before welding. Seems a lot of hassle. Would Bolting not achieve the same result?

I just thought welds would be a bit neater! I've been towing off the A-frame for ages, but wanted something better than just tying on.

With a cleat, the load will be spread across both bars of my A-frame rather than an eye which will be bolted through only one section.

Of course ill remove electronics before welding.
