still looking for a couple of gecko helmets
I have been combing the net looking for a used pair of preferably Mk10's with face protection.
Older ones will do as long as they are large and have the full face shield. They don't have to be perfect either. Just servicable.
I was out today bashing about in 9 degree weather, lashing rain and bigish waves. I was reminded why I need proper head and face protection. Great fun, but froze my melon.
I'm not looking for a killer deal. I just can't face the price of new ones.
Anyone got any leads ?
Cheers, Dave

Do you want full face ones or ones with a visor that covers your face?

What do the RNLI do with theirs when they are done with them? Bin them or can you buy them?

Probably go to Disposals in Poole.
With the geckos though if its not fit for use then it probably not worth selling.

They can be picked up quite cheaply at boat jumbles etc here in the UK.
However the visors are not cheap from Gecko.
All of ours are the older type without the inflatable liner.
The Smaller Nashers White ones still had their RNLI markings when I purchased them from a boat jumble @ 3 years ago for £25ea, but cleaned up nicely. I then purchased full length visors for them from Gecko for more than the cost of the helmets.
Mrs Nasher and Myself have Black ex-SBS ones purchased from an Army surplus stall at a local show. They too needed cleaning up, but I also had to drill the shells and add the poppers for the full length visors. They were set up for Goggles only, with poppers on the back.
I have 1 or 2 Black ones still in the loft in ex-SBS (very)used condition that I could add poppers to for about £25ea, but the postage to Canada would be mad.

Ignore this one. My phone decided to post it before I had finished and won't let me scroll down during editing.

nasher, if skidoodog doesn't take up the offer of your black helmets then I wouldn't mind purchasing a black one as I'm also looking out for one.

Thanks for the response Nasher. That was fast.
They just don't come up for sale around here. The Canadian Coast guard use them but I never see them for sale. The RIB crowd is a bit thin over here.
I would love to relieve you of a few of your helmets (4 total if you have got them). The cost to ship is all par for the course.
You mention that you can put the buttons on so I can put on the face shields from Gecko. That would be great. Can you get the shields locally or do they have to be ordered from Gecko ?
I have a big head so if there is any discretion on the size bigger is best for me. MrsSkidoodog is a little smaller thankfully...... I do have a couple of little nashers myself (10 and 12 years) so if you have smaller ones I'll take those too.
I will contact you via PM for payment and address details if you are willing to proceed.
Thanks again for the response. Must be my lucky day.
Cheers, Dave Alton

Gents
I'll have a look in the loft and see what I can find, and make a call if any of them really are useable.
It looks like Skidoodog has first dibs, so I'll try to figure out a postage cost to Canada and get an updated cost for the visors from Gecko. The last ones I purchased were either £29.95 or £39.95, I can't remember which.

Hi Bogib,
If Nasher is not able to help out I will certainly be in touch. A friend has just bought a Hurricane 733( i/o diesel) and will be looking for gear as well.
Cheers,
Dave

Sorry guys, looks like the helmets I have left are pretty well shot.
They are probably only useful for making more X-Mas meal awards.
