Topper Sailing Dinghies
WANTED: Topper Dinghies
My local yacht club is looking for a few Topper dinghies to introduce some younger members to the joys of sailing. If anyone knows of any, please drop me a line. They need to be cheap, as funds are limited.
Thanks
DHD

Thanks Mols - I recall you had a mini-fleet of small dinghies a few years ago and wondered whether your source could still bear some fruit.
They don't necessarily have to be Toppers - any small dinghy for youngsters to learn on will do, but it would be good to have a few of the same type, for when they progress onto racing, to keep things equal.

yes - pico's are what you want! you can rig with 1 or 2 sails. very forgiving the rig will deflect on gusts of wind..,

Pico's are good, and you have the option of rigs - but they are darned heavy compared to Toppers ( 60kg compared to 43kg), which is a consideration if the juniors need to man-handle the boats themselves.

I went through the same questiosn when I had a topper a few years ago. At the time I ended up with topper for peanuts ( £175 from memory for a well used ) . This compared to at least £900 for a pico.
The size & weight was also a decider for me ....
Dont worry !I sold it after one season as they kids weren't remotely interested when they had the option of something with an engine.

Hi
I've got two toppers for sale at the moment. A proper knackered one 34651 with a brand new small sail, cover and trolley for £400 and a good racing boat 41497 with brand new small sail, cover and galvanised trolley for £800.
Both got to go as kids have lost interest. Located in Cambridgeshire at Grafham Water. Worth a trip with a double stacker trailer.
Let me know if you'd like to know more
Richard

Thanks Richard, but they're a bit far out in Cambs and I struggle to associate £400 with 'proper knackered'
