Tornado 5.3 Project RIB (cheap)

I've too many projects on and need some space...

I will remove the engine from this RIB so that and the yam gauge / throttle is NOT included but everything else is.

She's a scruffy but sound tornado 5.3 on a solid trailer. Easy project.

I'll let this go "as is" for £1000.

The trailer is worth probably £500-£600, perhaps more.

Everything is untested. I will get around to testing it but the price remains the same wether it works or not !

I towed the boat to my yard & there is a spare wheel but It would be sensible to change bearings.

I understand the boat was last used 2013.

Good bits:

Hull seams sound
Built in fuel tank
The upholstery looks (and is) new (had been stored inside, shame the boat wasn't)
Drive rack (easily removed)
A-frame
Anchor locker
Tubes hold air. Baffles checked (OK).
Trailer seams solid. It's a home made stainless (yes STAINLESS STEEL) affair with recycled axle and hitch from what was probably the original galvanised one.
Spare wheel and tyre.

Electronics
-globalmap GPS / plotter and antenna.
-X107 sonar and transducerClick image for larger version

Bad bits:

Tubes very scruffy. Will need some patches replacing or glueing back.
In my opinion though they have a few years left in them - I've seen much worse.
Trailer bearings best replaced.
Fuel tank filler cap mislaid, white spirit cap fitted in its place !!

Be my guest.

After hinting to 'er indoors that another wee project would be nice to do over the winter I was met with an icy stare.

I was talking to a man today who shifted a trailer from Galway to the north of Scotland for nothing - just ran it on the network...

No way You could put the Opti inside though. that's going on Ma small Ribcraft

if my plans for that Tornado come off it will never see the water again. I'm looking for an old clunker that we can renovate half of it longitudinally and leave the other half as was. I believe that would be an effective way to demonstrate our skill levels to our customers.

I can already hear the 'half a job Harry' wisecracks coming at me

Dan I'm sorry but my entire technical team (Jasper) isn't interested in refurbishing this boat, and is threatening to sling his hook if I force the issue. Given that he has enviable skills and experience and can lift and carry an Opti 150 means i am hesitant to push this issue past the shouting stage.

This coupled with the storage problems I am having at the moment means I have to ask you not to hold me to buying this.

I deeply regret not keeping my word, therefore as an act of compunction if any body else wants this project I will quite happily deliver it anywhere in the UK Mainland (except Norfolk) for the reimbursement of Diesel and Tolls. figure around 21mpg when towing

Tornado 5.3 Project RIB (cheap)

This now has new bearings at no extra charge. Stuart will be paying for my beer tonight to cover the cost.

Available until Christmas at £1000 "as is" but complete - In the new year I'll start striping down for a refurb.

Stuarts offer to deliver works out about 30p a mile and is probably quite genuine. He'll do anything to get away from mrs wave and knows there's a free curry or pizza in it when he comes to pick it up !!

You've misunderstood.

The opti 90 is nothing to do with the tornado.

Stuart bought an opti 90 off me some months ago and it was going to be transported down on the tornado.

This said I know of a cheap 75 opti it's like new.

As you know her and don't appear to be frightened by her you can call her Roguetta. But yep I'm happy to do the delivery but would have to be before the 20th cos I have tickets to see Jools Holland in Cardiff and I'll probably stay home then till after Christmas.
