I had a Mariner 40 (no power trim) on my old 5m Tornado which pulled my mate 14stone + up on a wake board . Don't recall what size or pitch prop I was using.

Worth throwing this into the mix. Mariner 2002 ELPT 50hp 4-stroke. Out-with budget... but that's what banks are for. Sainsbury bank offer pretty competitive short-term loans at decent rates. http://www.seamarknunn.co.uk/download/usedob/used.pdf

thanks for the offer! I gave him a ring and he was moody as sin, like he didn't want to know. Don't understand some people ahah.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys.
One question I have is do outboard decrease in power much as they get older or is it just minute? As in a 2004 yamaha 60 will have more power than a 1995 yamaha 60?

If he was a genuine seller, than he would welcome any inspection and should be able to talk about the engine at length. I can only apologise, we're usually applauded for our hospitality in this neck of the woods.

This is even older, but they're bullet-proof. Probably mid to late 80s. No idea if it's electric trim. Ebay purchases are bit of a hit or miss - they really need to checked over before committing to bid.

Definately give him a call.

Have a look on eBay at item number 161244030365.
Offer between £2,650 - £3,000
Remove the motor and replace it with your current one (assuming its big enough etc)
Sell the boat with your old engine for between £1,500 - £2,500 dependant on engine
You've upgraded your engine for as little as £500, maybe less and a maximum of £1,500. Happy days ?

Update on the 50hp mariner 4 stroke....weighs 104kg so thats ok.
Some people tell me its easier to pull a skier with a 4 stroke some with a 2 stroke what do you reckon? will this be man enough to pull a mono?
he sent me a load of pics and a video of it running. He wants £1600
