Wanted 90hp Two stroke

Been persevering with a 70HP VRO all summer and the Rib needs a little more power.
All advise on where I can get a good deal on a second hand Tohatsu or Etec appreciated but I really want to get a more modern 90 for next year.

And none of that 4 stroke nonsense

What is your budget? Mobile marine have new 90 hp opti's @ £4300 with 5 year warranty which is a good buy. I would go new if you could

I might be interested in your old engine if you want to sell it

Had a look at the Opti's at SBS but the weight put me off.
The Searider has enough weight at the back already and I think the Opti came in 30-40 kgs more than the Etec and Tohatsu. Unless someone knows otherwise.
The price sounds really good so I'll have alook anyway.

As for selling the VRO - only too happy to once I've found a replacement - I'll let you know how I get on

Thanks for the info so far

Not as confused as I am.
Think I need to do a bit of PC admin.

Anyhow, the Opti looks great. I'm really tempted, just need a few more details from the dealer.

opti's are great engines , We fit them to 80% of our boats are have no problems. I also run one on my own boat.

Hi Buddy

I'd be busy buying an Etec if I was after a 90!

150's however that's different.

Ah, Mr Wave, so nice to see you here.
Etec is my first choice but money - well that's another matter.
The Optis are going for £4,300 whereas the best I can get on an Etec is £5,700. Thats a bit of a price difference.
Mr Nasher and others seem to think I'm going to find it tough to get an Etec for anything like the Opti's price - unless you or someone else knows better.

What's the key differences in your opinion ?

I only know three people runnng 3 pot Opti's and they have all been troublesome so I guess the key difference is reliability in my opinion.

I however don't think you can beat a two stroke Yammie providing on that setup

Mr Wave,
Any views on this Yamaha - I've seen one on Boats & outboards http://www.boatsandoutboards.co.uk/view/F162891
Are they ok from 1999?
thanks

Superb engines, the last one I had was an 86 version and still ran like a sewing machine. Would be my choice if its still available.
