I bought this Yamaha 6, 4 stroke new in June 2013 and used it for 6 weeks in the South of France as the outboard to my yacht tender, a Zodiac 325 Fastroller.
Yacht Raselle Website. I have followed the Yamaha 'breaking in' procedure, and it now has done 21 hours in total. The beauty of this is that the buyer does not have to go through the boring 'break in' period like I did!
I brought it back home to Ripon, North Yorkshire to have it serviced by my local Yamaha dealer - Skipton Marine - who gave it a first service, changed the fuel filter, impeller, plug, gear and sump oil, and then winterised it. It has been kept clean and dry in my garage at home since then awaiting return to the South of France in March.
Once back in the UK, I decided that I wanted a more powerful outboard for the Zodiac, and I have now purchased a tohatsu 9.8 from a RIBnet member.
The Yamaha 6 is in 'as new' condition, subject to a few hardly visible minor cosmetic scratches on the cover and gear shift. It starts easily, runs well at all revs, and is very economical if you just throttle back a little from flat out. It is also very good as a slow trolling motor. One of the key benefits of the Yamaha 4, 5 and 6hp outboards over all other makes is that they are the only 4 stroke outboards that can be laid on their side for transit or storage. Of course, the Yamaha 6 is the most powerful of them all.
I paid £1,050 for it - the full retail is £1200+ and I see that new ones are for sale at about that mark now. I also bought the Yamaha 12 litre fuel tank and line, which cost £95 together. So the package I am selling cost me £1,145. I have all original receipts, and the manufacturers guarantee which has 4 years left to run after June this year. The Guarantee is transferrable. Just take the Warranty Handbook and Guarantee certificate to any Yamaha Dealer who will amend and stamp it. I will give the buyer a signed proof of sale.
The tank and fuel line are still on my yacht in the the South of France, but I can collect them in May when I next go down and return by car.
I would be happy to sell it, main agent fully serviced - cost £145 - and ready to go for this season for £950.00.
It is available, buyer collect from Ripon, North Yorkshire, and payment in cash, on collection.
If you are interested, it is a little beauty, but sadly, just not enough power for my needs.
